How do I learn guitar as a retarded boymoder I'm trying to learn D, A- etc but remembering the positions is so hard
i learned by staying up all night smoking pot, watching tv and playing guitar simultaneously. also you gotta build up muscle strength and muscle memory.
depends how much u love it and how old you are, maybe start w the bass
>>41514840you have to hurt ur fingers a lot, and learn the finger shapes. and then learn to jump from one note to the other, until you can do all of them fast
>>41515893one chord* to the other
>>41514840Find a friend/bf/gf who plays, or take lessons; not having this is hardmode asf
>>41514840You can play songs with literally 2 or 3 chords only. Most chords are all the same anyway. If it's the shapes themselves that are hard to remember, come up with some memory device to keep them on your brainI think D looks like a D, A looks like an A (although all on 1 fret), E looks like an e, open G kinda wraps around like a G, and C... well look I said you only needed 4 chords. Then learn the minor variation for D A and EEventually your brain gets good at compartmentalizing new chord shapesIf you want some quick dopamine, try learning the power chords A5 E5 D5 (two ways)E--5--7--5----A--7--7--5--5D--7------7--7G--------------7And just strum away. Move the chords wherever you want and see what sounds dopeI think honestly more important than memorising chord shapes is using whatever ones you know and being able to switch between them smoothly. If you can keep up the rhythm of your strumming it sounds infinitely better to be a little slow on changing the chords, than it does to stop strumming and pause to get the chord right. Have a good long think about a chord before you switch to it, know what you're gonna do before you do it, know which fingers are gonna move while some things stay the same (Am and C require you to move exactly 1 finger only, for example). Don't throw your fingers in the deep end and expect them to swim at firstYou got this op
>>41514840Oh yeah, to add, do what's fun. Do what makes you happy. You won't keep playing if it's not fun. Find a song you *like* to practice, sing along if you want to, do stupid stuff, see all the different ways you can strum a chord. Make up chords to songs and strum and sing along to your own playing. 'It's so hard' is not the sound of having fun
>>41516097This is the key to learning like, everything, assuming you aren't being forced by external pressures. Forcing yourself to do the parts you dont enjoy will just lower the amount of time you spend playing, and make the time you do spend playing less enjoyable. There's a lot of grey area to be found between "proper, efficient learning" and enjoying yourself
>>41516097>>41516311amen
>>41514980Dangerous game following this path as I once ended up smoking a quarter of a cart and learning a Death in June song.
>>41514840CAGED system. Play songs you like. Learn common progressions. Start experimenting with different kinds of chord voicings and extensions.Hotel? Trivago.
>>41516461oh and learn your fucking scales, multiple octaves all across the neck in different directions going down and up, try playing in different intervals like thirds and fourths.
>>41514840I've been watching this fucking dude's videos because I need a kooky old master jazz guitarist to miyagi me.https://youtu.be/zisCvYjk6-o
>>41516452pot is marijuana mr str8edge. its not even bad for you. lol i dont even smoke pot anymore i grew out of it a long time ago
>>41516461>>41516472>muh scalesyour music is probably dogshit
>>41516529I make harsh noise so yes
>>41516539nvm i take it back
>>41516544next time i'm gagging u with a contact mic going into a delay pedal
>>41516553can u gag me with something else next time...
>>41516559try me see what happens faggot
>>41516316omg that hobo agrees with me!>>41516461CAGED is like. at once really useful and also really useless. Is probably good for a beginner to wet their brain with it tho >>41516472shh you'll scare the widdle boymoder, don't mention scales. honestly I may be retarded but learning scales didn't help until like years later because I thought if I could play a scale I could write a melody but like. that's like learning to read kanji and assuming you can speak japanese
>>41516996>that's like learning to read kanji and assuming you can speak japanesewell,,, yeah you still need to know your ABCs before you can read Tolstoy. You still need to know what is where and how to move in between notes in a key. Sometimes I don't even play to a metronome and just veg out watching tv shows playing up and down a scale mindlessly. Even that is really good.
>>41517051>sometimes I don't even play to a metronomeO:Okay but fr 'do whatevers fun' followed by 'oh and learn your scales' is just a contrast for the worse. Scales will become fun, or at least satisfying, when you know why you're doing them and when you come to decide you want to do them for a purposeAlthough I suppose I couldn't even help myself from rambling about chords so
>>41514840just learn (easy) songs you like and eventually you'll start to recognize patterns on the fretboard. if you wanna be more tryhard you could try doing 52 weeks of the blues
