The issue I have is that there is no amount of assimilating that stops me being hurt by discrimination, especially in an age where everything is digital - landlords, doctors,s employers increasingly have access to records which out me. And so as homophobia gets more common, I am increasingly materially hurt by losing access to money, healthcare, jobs, housing. The reason I am 'butthurt' about homophobia is because homophobia seeks to make me into some sort of underclass.
