i'm too retarded to learn guitar as a boymoder. i'm gonna set myself on fire.
>>
>>41568991
Are you taking lessons or are you just trying to figure it out on your own?
>>
If ur over the age of 18 just give up btw
>>
>>41568991
that's because you're supposed to play bass as a tranny
>>
>>41568991
Yesterday I messed up my intonation by setting the strings all at the same length
Fml
>>
>>41568991
"Boymoder" = obvious male with long hair and a hoodie
>>
>>41569010
why?
>>
>>41569004
i'm trying to figure it out. i figured out A minor, A, and E yesterday but now i forgot. I tried to do G but my fingers wouldn't contort like that.
>>
>>41569010
Think Rick Graham started at 18.
But you don't have to be a crazy virtuoso. The skill ceiling is so high but the level you need to be to just play in bands and have fun is like. Really low.
Don't listen to this anon. Have fun. Learn how to practice effectively. Set goals. Just go for it.
>>
>>41568991
just learn it it’s that shrimple

it’s like the easiest instrument ever or something imo like just play yk once u build up finger strength and agility and basic music structure knowledge you’ve basically won all u have to do is just play a lot and have fun

i dont even know the names of the chords beyond the basic ones i just know what shapes sound pretty and its so fun u need to try it

that’s what i do with all instruments. u just gotta like play it yk like have fun and do whatever until u can play better then it keeps going until ur even more better ^_^

what’s ur fav guitar work in bands?
>>
>>41569093
I legit dont think my fingers or brain have the dexterity for some chords. I try moving between them fast but I am retarded
>>
>>41569038
I said this in the other thread but you sound like you have unrealistic expectations about how long this takes to learn
>>
>>41569103
I know it takes a while but I keep forgetting the same damn chords
>>
>>41569038
All of that is just repetition. Focus on getting your fingers right before you worry about speed. I would just try learning some really simple songs that just have 2 chords and build from there. Idk the current guitar youtuber meta but there's plenty to choose from now (don't buy their courses)
>>41569010
>>41569058
I sometimes play with a guy who didn't start until he retired and he's better than a lot people I know started young
>>
>>41569111
Try drawing them or just going over them in your head while you do other stuff
Also picking a song with like 3 babby chords and practicing it will make those 3 permanently stuck in your head after a few days
>>
>>41569099
that’s why u move slow first!

if u can’t play it slow u won’t be able to play it fast

your brain will adapt just do what evers fun and learn and practice every day. u just train ur brain and fingers yk thats it your body will remember how to play and you’ll make more connections as u go on
>>
>>41569131
Im gonna try "what I got" by sublime because that's only D & G but we come back to the problem of trying to contort my hands and change chord fast enough. Its just frustrating but I gotta practice cause lessons are like $50 p/h
>>
>>41569111
Put your guitar in an easy to reach place and pick a repeating moment (like after having been to the toilet) to practice your chords
>>
>>41569142
"Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast"
Best boomer wisdom ever
>>
>>41569147
D to G is maybe the most awkward basic chord transition so don't feel bad lel. A lot of stuff like that will just sound clunky for a while
Compared to like C -> A minor or something
>>
>>41569038
MODS
>>
>>41569187
My boomer dad told me that it was easy and to learn it. He also keeps trying to teach me how to tune by ear when I dont know all the chords so maybe he's retarded
>>
>>41569157
IKR shout out to my guitar teacher i had when i was like 10

>>41569149
naur u just put it on the floor of ur bedroom and pick it up and play whenever u feel like doing anything in ur day that would give u pointless dopamine like eating a snack or scrolling tiktok or reels and u replace some of that with playing guitar and play like a billion times a day then ur like addicted to practicing and u win

i have like 3 diff guitars and 2 amps and 7 pedals just playing here. average shoegaze listener
>>
>>41569205
Something I've realized having learned 3 instruments and woodworking (ie another boomery hobby) is that a lot of people have been doing something for so long, and are so good at it, that they forget what it's like to be new at it. Which is fair and doesn't speak to their skill, but it's just something to consider when you get advice
Tuning by ear is also something I couldn't do for a while personally
>>
>>41569010
>if you’re over the age of 18 just give up on your dreams
With an attitude that crappy, you deserve to be miserable.
>>
>>41569332
It is tho, there are 16 year olds even 13 year olds who have accomplished their dreams and have done more then you ever will. Life ends at 18.

Boymoders can learn the guitar!!!!!!! >__<
>>

you are a pedophile and should be put down like a dog
>>
>>41568991
just had a dream where i embarrassed myself on stage by not knowing guitar. i get it
>>
>>41569935
Uuum that guitar only has four strings KILL YOURSELF BOYMODERCHAN you will NEVER be a bass!!!!
>>
>>41569332
Dreams don't matter, they are just a distraction, you're never getting that cool creative job because you don't even know the fundamentals, and even if you got it you'll be plagued by impostor syndrome or realize it's turning your fun hobby into a boring grind and be miserable again.
If you're not so enthusiastic that you love to be bad at a thing and that pushes you forward to learn more you'll never make it. There's so many more creative people with actual drive and enthusiasm, I'll never be able to reach them because I have none of that. I just wish I was good instantly. I don't have the energy to put in effort to get gradually better over the years. And I have a hard time deciding what to pick. Music, drawing, painting, 3d modeling etc. I tried everything and I always hit a wall and think "I don't think I'm enjoying this, it's overwhelming and frustrating".

But I really wish I could find a hobby or skill I enjoy struggling through to get better, other than brain rotting multiplayer games like deadlock
>>
>>41570429
real
i guess i should just roll over and give up
>>
>>41570429
If you're going to brainrot video games, play a fighting game unironically. Or like an RTS maybe. Something high-focus that isn't team-based and takes a long time to get good at. They're good for teaching you how to learn things
>I just wish I was good instantly
Yeah this is the core of the problem. The journey is half the point, not being the shounen protagonist who is beloved and wins all the time
>>
>>41570445
Don't give into loser mindset
I swear to god everyone who says this just struggles to grapple with temporary failure, and has been informed by movies/anime that they can get good in 2 months and then be a superstar, which they think is the entire point. It oozes from this post >>41570429

(None of this is true)
>>
>>41570450
id recommend fighters, shooters, or sportsslop since you can actually get paid to play (some) of those. RTS is a waste of time
>>
>>41570505
I'm not recommending these with profit as a remote consideration. If you want to make money from playing video games, go bot MMO gold, and you might end up with an actual software job out of it anyway. But factoring potential earnings into your decision to learn a game recreationally is retarded and will make the process miserable unless you are Faker reincarnated (t. paid rent off Dota 2 boosts/coaching for 4 years)
>>
>>41570450
I tried fighting games and suck and then and give up, they're too fast.

Even shooters which I'm better at (but they're team based) I never moved past gold in overwatch lmao. So I'm just average and suck ass actually.
>>
>>41570810
Yeah I'm not that good to get a job at it. But that's also why I don't try other hobbies because I always think "why am I doing this, I'll never be good enough to be paid for this" idk I just wish I could simply enjoy the journey, I know the way I'm thinking about this is wrong, I understand how I SHOULD think about it, but I just can't get myself to do that
>>
Anyone advice how to increase/regain flexibility for stretching pinkie after injury. I can't grap the chords ;_;
>>
I'm a boymoder I've played guitar for years as a hobby
Taking something seriously to the point of perfection is difficult I'm happy to be able to play stuff like this https://voca ro/19mIcOpZZIv1
But it's not good enough to be considered professional and im ok with that. I keep practicing and having fun. Guitar is hard your fingers aren't really designed to stretch and bend so meticulously and it can be a real strain to reach a point where u comfortable can play guitar but when you nail a song it feels amazing.
>>
Just follow the justinguitar course. Guitar is literally the easiest instrument to learn purely because of that website.

are you practicing, or just thinking about it in your head and feeling overwhelmed? simplify your practice; it can be as easy as doing scales to a metronome for a bit everyday. you got it nona and it's never too late to chase your dreams!
>>
u know how when u think of moving ur guy in a video game, how you dont think "oh man now im gonna press W to make him go forward!!!! and then D to make him go right wow i love peripheral IT technology and its interaction with software!!!" u just sorta have a conception in ur head to move ur guy, and ur fingies just follow that idea unconsciously and effortlessly? thats how all skills work. when u hear "building blocks" or "fundamentals" thats the shit u gotta grind until its muscle memory u can whip out in ur sleep. takes usually like 6-12 months of a couple hours a day if ur dedicated imo. Yngwie Malmsteen or Muhammad Suicmez or Phil Tougas or Van Halen solos are not as far away as u think once you get the basics like chord progressions and scales and picking patterns down to muscle memory, which is just rote grinding u can do while watching a show or video essay slop or something. then learning growth is exponential and comes way faster. extends to everything beyond guitar too, believe me. cuz i also believe in you biiiiitch
>>
>>41570429
Nah I made it. Practice repper. Locked in hard. Now I'm a God and iwnbaw
Noticed a lot of other virtuosos i know are reppers and closet cases
Every single one of them without exception autistic including the ones you've heard of
Lol
>>
>>41575714
>extends to everything beyond guitar too, believe me
This is why I go so hard on people over this. It's such a good avenue to practice learning things, and life is so much harder if you're bad at learning things

Work ethic issue
Look up Brolylegs. Guy played Street Fighter by blowing into a tube and would fuck up 99% of people
RIP legend
>>
>>41577391
Yeah there's great guitarists with one arm. No arms. 2 fingers. Focal dystonia. Etc that are legends. Not to mention Jason Becker still writing music to this day even though he's only been able to move his eyes a little for years from ALS. Make use of your body and your mind while you still have them. They're gifts. There's so much disability has taken from me but it hasn't taken music
>>
>>41568991
make sure to livestream it if u actually do!!!!!!!!!!!
i wanna watch ^-^
>>
>>41568991

Personally, i think the trick to learning creative skills is to make it enjoyable for yourself. I'm not saying learning the guitar is easy; it's not and it takes a lot of time. What I mean is that some people get too wrapped up in drilling fundamentals and doing exercises, and end up burnt out or worse, hating guitar. I would say continue learning your chords, but also pick a simple 4-chord song you like and try to get comfortable with just the chords it uses. Then, work your way up to playing those chords in order, trying to get used to switching between the positions. Keep incrementally stepping towards small goals, and have music "milestones" that help keep you entertained. There's still a magic I feel after years of playing when i'm trying to learn a difficult song and I hear just a hint of it between awful reps. Seek out that feeling. As you keep playing and trying out new things, you'll build up the skills you need over time.

Also, remember to take breaks!
>>
>>41577391
I know it's a work ethic issue, it's a brain issue, I wish I could do it for fun but I always think about how this isn't helping me improve my career how I'll still be stuck doing shit jobs. I wasted years not improving my education to get a better job and now I'm stuck hating hobbies where I have to invest years into, even worse is I'm interested in so many that I can't decide which one to stick to

Also tfw the songs you want to learn are Elliot Smith songs, might as well give up lol
>>
>>41580322
Have you ever been tested for ADHD
I thought it was a meme my entire life but I'm on (non-stimulant) meds now and it basically absolved my brain of all the issues you're describing
>>
>>41580353
nta but I did and it didn't really help with executive dysfunction sadly
maybe it's just depression or maybe i just needed a higher dosage idk
>>
I want you to kys but also you are so retarded you don't deserve to ever touch an instrument again. So please do the world a favor and kill your self :)
>>
I want you to live also you are so full of potential you do deserve to touch an instrument again. So please do the world a favor and keep living :)
>>
>>41580353
I haven't and it's pretty expensive to get diagnosed. But I think it's just depression mainly because I've been feeling numb and directionless, hopeless for years, mixed with a bit of ADHD maybe.

I don't want to go on anti depression meds that make me even more emotionless, but idk which ones to ask for, conflicting reports.

What's your prescription rn?
>>
>>41568991
guitar hurts my fingers and i like my soft hands so i dont want to develop calluses so ill stick to piano thank you :3
>>
>>41568991
same I just gave up
>>
>>41568991
Why are trannies so fucking stupid and bad at learning?

What the fuck is wrong with you retards?
>>
>>41580441
The process of finding the right dose is really frustrating desu, it's a process. Worth experimenting though, there's a lot of shit to try
>>41581006
True
>>41581350
Yeah the psych I saw wanted me to do both ADHD and depression meds but I told him the same thing basically. Personally, the thing I realized about myself is that the depression was almost entirely downstream from ADHD, and dealing with existing became much easier when I could do things
Atomoxetine
>>
>>41583656
I think it's a matter of not having a role model who shows you how to embrace failure/accept the journey/etc all the intrinsically gay stuff about being good at things. Seems like a zoomer trait desu
You also see it a lot in other certain... groups.. that often don't have a father figure.. I swear I'm not trying to be racist but it's true
>>
>>41583656
I'm sorry.....
>>
>>41568991
Try open d tuning its easy af to learn
