You know, not every single boy received threats of violence for not being masculine.
Actual punching and kicking was basically unheard of where I grew up.
Not saying this is universal, but a bunch of people act like boys were all ruffians who beat each other up and girls were shielded and knew nothing. It's not like boys where I grew up didn't bully girls, too. And most boys did not see any violence, let alone become victim to it.
