yes, they're easy and there are plenty of tutorials of self-injection on the internet, youtube, etc
if you're doing subcutaneous you wont hit any vein, also you usually do it around the navel area or thigh
if you're doing intramuscular, just do it on the vastus lateralis muscle. outward part of the middle part of your thigh. its not painful and theres no major veins there, so its pretty easy to inject without getting into problems. just aspirate the syringe before injecting to be sure you didnt hit a blood vessel and you're free to go. very easy.

for HRT the most important is Estradiol, Testosterone, FSH and LH, SHBG, DHT, Prolactin. some other things can be important but it depends on your HRT routine, if you're using cyproterone, spiro, taking pills orally, doing monotherapy, etc. theres a bit of info about that on the op guide, right side

My sex drive has been non existent for the last two years and a bitch is sick of it. Started prog rectally hoping that would help (and it has been, a bit) but I'm still feeling sterile as hell. My doctor switched me to cypro from spiro a few months ago and I've noticed zero change from that, and my T levels are around the same. Thinking about switching the cypro from 12.5mg/day to 12.5mg every second day. In theory I should be somewhere in the 1.5-2nmol/L range, and on the mid/high side of T levels right? I've been doing E injections for a little over a year, I assumed I was doing intramuscular (apparently not). I spoke to someone recently who said my needles are way too short (8 mm) and I'm not getting effective E and I'm basically just hurting myself. So uh oopsie?

Then the next day I spoke to a different person and she told me she always does subcutaneous. I did a little research and it seems like that's fine: it takes slightly longer to absorb but the E is still just as effective.

So does IM or subq make any difference? Help me hrtg am I retarted?

hey anons ive got some questions and i want ur opinions and advice abt dosage. this is gonna be a fat ass message sequence so bear with me.

I do subcutaneous injections of estradiol valerate, monotherapy, every 7 days. When I did labs on 9/10, I was taking 0.5mL from 20mg/mL vials, for a dose of 10 mg. I had occasionally tested on the higher range of E levels in the past, but my 9/10 results showed 479 pg/mL estrogen and 35 ng/dL testosterone. Instead of opting to retest like in the past, my prescriber dropped my dose to 0.3mL (6 mg). I switched to 0.3mL injections, while tending to draw a little extra beyond 0.3 (so probably 0.33ish) and have remained at that dose since.

The Saturday before my 10/29 labs, I underdosed myself at a little under 0.2mL in hopes that my provider would see my reduced levels and bump my dose back up accordingly. I tested at 127 pg/mL estrogen and 41 ng/dL testosterone. When I contacted my provider with concern with how high my testosterone tested, I was informed (through a nurse) that she thought the levels were perfectly fine and my dose shouldn’t be adjusted.

Diyhrt wiki says that I want to be getting my estrogen >100 pg/mL and testosterone at <50 ng/mL, but I’m still concerned about my dose being too low to get optimal results. Do y’all think I’m getting underdosed rn? Post labs I have returned to the 0.3mL (6mg) injections like before, so my E should be higher and T lower than 10/29’s results showed, but I’m still concerned. Even back doing sublingual and spiro I had more effective testosterone suppression (116 pg/mL, 35 ng/dL, unsure abt E dose but somewhere between 4 & 8mg).

Should 0.3mL (6mg) shots of EV on 7 day intervals be enough to get optimal/quality results? If no, how should I adjust my dose? Obviously I don’t want to be taking too high of a dose since at some point higher E ≠ better results + health concerns like blood clots since I’m in this for that long haul.

its valerate, i believe you could take that 6mg dosage every 5 days. if you dont want to inject every 5 days, maybe 7 or 8mg every 7 days wont be bad? the simulator says your levels at through would be around 200pg/mL. anyway, your levels were like that on your blood tests bc you basically took a 4mg EV dose 6/7 days before. that would be a normal value for that dose. with monotherapy its nice to have the E2 near 200pg/mL bc you're not taking an AA, so you need levels higher to supress your T

With bicalutamide, it's super important to do liver function tests, doubly so during the first 6 months on it (during which the risk of liver damage or failure is highest). After 6 months, you should continue to do regular LFTs, but don't need to do them as often.

I have been on bical for many years (since 2017) and am extremely happy with it, but people are WAY too blasé about the risk of liver damage or failure with this drug.

Yeah, it's a tiny risk, but without monitoring LFTs, you're unlikely to be able to catch it early if it does occur.

idk if this is the right thread for this but
i was on diy injections for a long time with good levels, i ran out and had to go on pills (6mg) and spiro (100mg) for a handful of months. my testosterone levels spiked (i can't remember the exact number, probably like a quarter of the low end of cis male range). it's been high for at least like 3 or 4 months, I am on a nuclear dose of spiro right now, getting back on injections in a couple weeks.

my question is, i have had laser and electrolysis, and i have noticed in the last couple months there seems to be very clear facial hair regrowth. it seems to be growing faster and there is more of it. is it possible that a few months of elevated testosterone has caused new growth or regrowth of facial hair? i am too broke for any more hair removal. fmstl.

i believe oestraclin is the same thing as oestrogel, just different brands/names. trans women usually use 3 to 5 pumps daily, usually 4 to 5 + an antiandrogen. so you would use like 2 pumps? maybe 1 but i dont know if just 1 pump would do anything at all. probably yes but idk i dont have much experience with HRT for non trans people.

either CPA or bica. choosing an AA is kinda just choosing your poison. bica should be safe if you take proper precautions regarding its hepatotoxicity (blood tests are a must), and CPA is very potent, even at 12.5mg/day, but you really shouldnt use it as a long term solution. i picked CPA cuz i knew id make the switch to EEn monotherapy eventually. maybe search around a bit for someone with true partial feminization therapy, cuz its a little bit off the beaten path yk

only two pumps of gel without AA wouldnt do much. your E would be slightly higher than a cis man but still low and your T would be high.

Depending on the carrier oil and the dosing schedule, your blood levels will vary over the course of your dose cycle reaching higher highs and lower lows than the near flat levels that daily pills give. Anecdotally, I've noticed that my boobs hurt significantly more between 18-48hr post-injection when the levels are highest.
Also, pure speculation from me but I figure injections are more consistent. 5mg injected is 5mg injected, but how much of the "sublingual" is actually getting trapped in saliva and being taken orally as the pill dissolves?

ehh dont overthink abt dosage too much. way better to start small than to not start at all. a while back we had someone that was on an absurd dosage of E for months cuz she got the dosage wrong initially, and nothing rlly happened. perfection is the enemy of progress or something like that; get the basics down and you'll have 6-12 weeks to build up courage to go to a clinic
