90% of not passing comes down to this: the person either:A. conforms to a style that they've wanted to do but does't fit themorB. the person does too much or sacrifices conforming to gender>their own styleEXAMPLES: A. The alice phenotype/the Liv Agar/bangs and glasses with dark hair. Ok sure, the alice works for most with naturally straight hair. However sometimes a woman just needs a pony tail or a side part. Something that doesn't even draw attention to their face in the first place.B. Immediately going all the way goth/trad/whatever because they just got their egg cracked and spent a lot of time looking at that. Ok you spent all your life wanting to be a goth whateva so I get it, however, when you're losing it at how AGAB you look you need to realize that certain bodies call to certain versions of certain styles. A tall man looks good in flannelThis oversight to me creates the trans uncanny valley you see a lot of online-types engage in.

>>41698145overall the things most transgenders really miss is that 90% of the time cis people aren't worried about looking a certain gender and the style that gender has, they're worried about looking good. They have style but that will be a culmination of many different things.to provide more examples>alice type wearing bangs and glasses to EVERYTHINGmost cis women dress moderately, aka they dress in their style when just hanging sure but they don't go overboard >hair that is desired but doesn't look goodas seen with the above example, sometimes a haircut is just about looking good. also a lot of women have big foreheads. A lot of you are in full girlmode still have the bangs to cover up your widow's peak... what you really need is a haircut that makes it rounded out imo. >reluctance to short hair for MTFs or long hair for FTMsDead giveaway. Instead of going for a haircut that pushes your hair back you go for one that frames your face. Truly sometimes it would make more sense to have a haircut that is shorter or doesn't accent your face at all. It might fit your look more as well. Why are you a stoner that wears tie-dye but you keep your hair above your shoulders? It would make more sense to grow it out and not even worry about it. Think about it this way. A woman with a ponytail isn't concerned about looking like a man with their hair back.>overdoing it on the styleFTM with an outfit that has, visibly: belt, fancy pants, tucked in shirt, nice shoes, and hair that sticks up. Most men? Don't even keep track of their hair, not concerned about how the belt and shoes and pants all fit together. They just pick up a nice shirt, casual everything else then go about their day. An MTF with a multicolored top + bottom combination + a choker that's a seperate color + different color earrings. A lady that wants to have a pattern on is probably going to have it on one article of clothing, and going to choose one or two accessories that fit them, not all at once.
>The alice phenotype/the Liv Agar/bangs and glasses with dark hair. Ok sure, the alice works for most with naturally straight hair. However sometimes a woman just needs a pony tailOddly I always just look best with a bun. I don't even know why I go to the salon and get my hair done when all I do is tie it up on top of my head 95% of the time afterwards.
>>41698267my current style is probably considered horrific but here goes:>>winter>black vaguely boymoding jacket i suppose>denim jacket with a million pins/denim jacket without all the pins>some random t-shirt beneath, probably black or black with print>denim jeans>docs>>summer>denim jacket as before>same t-shirts but more likely to be different colours in summer>either the lighter jeans or long kinda thick skirt (don't worry its not the mental plaited ones that trannies usually wear)>docs (idk what else)hair is just long with fringe which looks horrific and doesn't fit my face but I also have no idea what would fit my face so I just shrug.
>>41698145>>41698267And to my fellow black trannies (especially black women) please god do not give into a white trans trope that's re-codified into being your type (getting the Rick James braids and bangs because its like the alice haircut). It won't work for you as you think it does. The cultures are different. I know I know, you're whitewashed or quirky or don't get your culture and have no idea what else to do, don't want to get your edges done because it's such a leap. Look at other white washed quirky whatever people in your culture or stay close towards facial shapes, which is ESPECIALLY different with black people. >>41698218Experiment with stuff, and have the experiment be highlighted in a very simple look. Always no matter what try to assess yourself objectively.

>>41698311>>summer >>denim jacketwhere do you live? I wouldn't wear a jacket in the summer unless I was going to a punk show.my suggestion to you is to change it up into the most bland cis woman shit imaginable. I've always desired to wear a small shirt and bell bottoms and sandals but I don't know if I'll ever get there, but that's the idea. Like literally two visible things like this. Have shoes that don't draw attention like docs do. You'll probably start off hating your shoulders or waist or some other dysphoric feature that gets accented. That's fine, swap them out for something that lessens that.

>>41698145I agree. I have looked like this (not me obvs) since I was 12 and I have stuck with it. Still look like this and pass pretty well.I was built to look like this I guess.
>>41698145What if I keep my hair short and wear a leather jacket and pants?
>>41698145nah, it's all like an aesthetic sense that is partly inherent and partly builds over a whole lifetimeif u have it then u can take risks, make mistakes, salvage it, and carry it whatever it isthe only thing left is for haters to nitpick and say u welll ackshully even tho they look normal or good the angle with the jaw here and the color balance with the adjacent of the tangent of the bla bla bla bla bla bla some nerd rambling bla bla blathen u have ppl that really don't have a sense of style and always miss it until someone does it for them or they luck into the most mediocre style they can and never leaveif they had a sense of style they could make a lot more work well for them and not be restricted to the most basic template looks, but the fact is that the only way for someone without a sense of style to get better is thru trial and error and being willing to make mistakes
