Any advice for a total beginner on how to pull off dressing myself in an androgynous way? I'm too old and too tall to be really feminine. But I still really like the aesthetics and contrasts of it. Does this just make me drag queen?

Anyway, I'm trying to find nice pants and shirts. Jeans with a high waistband because I have a fairly thin waist (relatively speaking) and a fine butt.

I'm in Europe. I recently got my nipples pierced and currently in the process of removing my body and face hair. So far I really like it

Looked for a crossdresser general but did not find one. Pic related, my unpierced nipples form yesterday

Just wear baggy trousers (they are the most non-gender specific way of legwear) and a crop-top… I know a 190cm male that pulls it off extremely well.

I think clothes that work on both men and women will set you up for an andro look. Form fitting shirt and pants and a baggy coat and sweater worked out well for myself. I see a lot of women in europe wear beige coats, and it can work.

I guess it's nice that baggy trousers are currently quite popular. Crop top are nice, but I will wait with them until my hair has grown out a bit more. Also crop tops seem to be a serious commitment compared to loose jeans that look unisex

Form fitting shirts are kinda difficult to find. Maybe it's just my torso

I think form fitting male shirts are hard to find, bc most everything is sized for overweight or baggy. If you are fit like in the pic, then yea it makes sense. I get made to measure shirts since I have given up on finding anything resembling my size 183cm/68kg from the store.
Drag queen vibes come up if the clothes are too flamboyant and lack subtlety. Like, you can probably ask youself the question "would a mature woman my age wear this?" Even if you are older, Im sure you can find sone kind of fit to pull off.

Maybe I should check up on gym bros and find out where they get their muscle shirts.

Someone on this board mentioned this rule of thirds. It's difficult to pull off when your trousers go up to your belly button (good), but shirts go so low that I end up with a 50/50 look again

And I'm 29. So kind of middle-aged. It's probably more common for guys to experiment with these things when they are just starting their twenties, not when they are already on their way out.

Muscle shirts definately would fit well. But just looks like dudebro clothes. Maybe more andro with jewelry and hair style/length? I dunno. Waist/belly button level is back in style, but pants sitting at hip level can still work, only if youre fit imo.
Rule of thirds is great and all,but a 3/4 length coat may fix most inconsistencies. It helps to have longer coats and shorter leather jackets to rotate with regular length jackets.

I would dare to say, if a guy has abs, he can get away with crop tops. A crop top and leather jacket can look really friggin good.

Im 35, sooo... I dunno when my cutoff is going to be. I wear stuff more appropriate for my age, and I still get ma'am'd on a regular basis. No hostility from people, just real friendly encounters. Its funny to see 90's style come back in full swing, seeing it 30 years ago.

Thanks for the insights. Sounds good. Cool that you can pull it off. I'll just take it slow and see for example if I can get rid off my facial hair. I've ordered a proper (but not so expensive) laser device from a manufacturer in China. So on paper I should be able I to do 20 rounds of laser without having to worry about costs until the grey / blue shadows are gone that persist even after shaving

you want to express yourself through your appearance, which is very cool
learn to sew and begin modifying/creating your own clothes

nipple piercings are sooooo fun right I'm totally evangelical about them they're like so painless and cute. good luck having more fun with clothes! i agree with the anon that says learn to sew but I definitely haven't done it. i think I looked up something like this before I started transition and someone was like "everyone wears scarves". so you could wear scarves I guess
i think when we talk about dressing androgynous that can mean a lot of things, right? like there's the twink kind of style or the like more ungendered style or like some subculture stuff that's classically considered to fall under "crossdressing" or whatever. but don't feel like you have to figure it all out I think a lot of that you kind of tweak and play with over time
but don't piss me off by settling for androgyny cause you feel like you can't achieve femininity! it's better to be clocky than half assed! or that's what I think anyway

I was never able to grow a decent beard like most asians. I lasered all that shit off and never regretted it. Are you certain about making the commitment for laser hair removal? No shade, but there is no going back. Either way, best of luck :)

You're being nice. For us two androgynous dressing starts at different levels, I think. For me, maybe due to the environment I was raised in, it already starts with just taking care of one's appearance and not too lean heavily into one's masculine features. But I also don't feel like I'm a woman in a man's body.

I'm really looking forward to the piercings healing. I hope they don't start to "move around". My piercer told me that's one of the things that can happen. That the body basically kicks out the barbells.

The pain was interesting. My head definitely got tingly. But I was also overall quite nervous. She asked be before getting started whether I can see blood. Completely dumbfounded I'm answering with a "no" and wondering what she is talking about. She wanted to know if I can handle seeing blood lol

Do you have nipple piercings? Did you get them before transitioning / growing breasts tissue or afterwards?

Yeeees. I wanted it for a long time but I always hesitated because the majority of women are not into it (I believe). For me, besides the visual aspects, I also prefer to have the soft skin, not having to shave, stubborn stubbles.

But looking at it differently, there are tons of guys with very little body and facial hair naturally. So why should I stay with a hairy body and face?

My facial hair is pretty thick so it will definitely take some time I assume.

Not dealing with stubble has been a quality of life improvement for myself. No more ingrown hairs and shaving bumps. Naturally I had very sparse body hair on my chest, abs, and decided to just laser that off too for tidying up. Before lasering, I would shave regularly.
Word of caution- laser hurts like fuck on the tooth if you have crowns/caps. I got a cap on a broken front tooth, and hurt like a bitch when the laser zapped over it. Tear inducing.

I'm mentally broken and physically disabled. But I've finally stopped taking antidepressants and I managed to improve my health a bit. Call me back in a year or two if I'm still around
