>>41896055who is this?
>>41896315Shulamith Firestone, author of The Dialectic of Sex, published in 1970, eight years before Janice Raymond's The Transsexual Empire."just as the end goal of socialist revolution was not only the elimination of the economic class privilege but of the economic class distinction itself, so the end goal of feminist revolution must be, unlike that of the first feminist movement, not just the elimination of male privilege but of the sex distinction itself: genital differences between human beings would no longer matter culturally." (p. 11)
>>41896387is she criticizing or agreeing here?
>>41896387This is what Shulie actually believed.
>>41896387>sex positive>pro-technology, transhumanist>anti-essentialist, anti-nature>socialistWhy couldn't radical feminism have ended up like this? Why did it have to become the mary daly cultural feminism essentialist womb cult it became?
>>41896387Real radical feminists actually do want to fully abolish gender norms and many blame the gender binary for the existence of trans people and not some "crazy mental illness fetish". Briefly they think that if gendering didn't exist, the only differences would be sex differences (genitalia and secondary characteristics) and transgender people would not exist if this was the case (because they wouldn't associate their personality to a certain genitalia and gendered performance) So I suppose this is two sides of the same coin.
>>41896478because the people with power intentionally fund the worst aspects of oppositional movements to destroy them. By promoting regressive, sex-negative, misandric, anti-trans feminism they turn feminism into a movement dominated by the goal of attacking people the system hates, instead of attacking the system. they do the same thing with promoting anti-nuclear environmentalist groups, knowing that they won't be able to accomplish most of their constructive goals like transitioning the economy to renewable resources, but that they will be able to accomplish their goals of shifting public and political opinion against nuclear power.
