When did /lgbt/ become the second /pol/?
>>
>>41910959

After the hack and all the mods disappeared and refuse to come back.

It will eventually maybe go back to how it was but probably not
>>
Short answer: Because 4chan culture tends to “drift” toward /pol/-style behavior whenever a board becomes a battleground for identity politics, culture-wars, or outsider influxes — and /lgbt/ is no exception.

Below is a more complete explanation:

1. Culture-war magnet + anonymity = /pol/ spillover

4chan boards aren’t isolated communities; users roam between boards.
/lgbt/ naturally attracts discussions about gender, identity, and social norms — the exact topics /pol/ posters like to raid or “debate.” Over time, a mix of:

/pol/ tourists

trolls looking for easy targets

users who enjoy provoking heated identity-politics arguments

causes the board to adopt a similar tone: cynical, hostile, and politically charged.

2. The board's demographic shift (“chaser invasion,” “straight tourist” effect)

As LGBT topics became more visible online in mainstream culture, more non-LGBT users started visiting /lgbt/:

straight guys with fetishistic interest (“chasers”)

bored /pol/ browsers

people looking to troll trans users

ideological activists trying to push narratives

This changes the board’s culture: instead of being a queer safe-space, it becomes a political arena.

3. Collapse of niche support threads general cynicism

Originally, /lgbt/ had a lot of:

trans help threads

questioning threads

hormone info

mental health discussions

But as trolling, hostility, and culture-war arguments increased, support threads became harder to maintain. The board’s emotional tone shifted toward:

jadedness

fatalism

memes about dysphoria, passing, loneliness

blackpill rhetoric

This “edge” resembles /pol/’s nihilism.

4. The 4chan tendency: every board becomes /pol/ during heated years

This is a well-known phenomenon on the site. When politics dominates online discourse, even non-political boards get /pol/-style content:

/v/ (games)

/a/ (anime)

/fit/

/tv/

/lgbt/ gets hit extra hard because trans topics are at the center of contempo

trans women are men
trans men are women
when you try to suppress reality and replace it with your own delusional, illogical social framework, it incites rebellion and dissent

trannies demand blind unyielding adherence to their toxic ideology

> The board's demographic shift (“chaser invasion,” “straight tourist” effect)
mysteriously omitting the reason any "chaser invasion" or "straight tourism" would even take place.
it's /tttt/ there's basically no gay and lesbian people left outside of their singular thread. All trannies, even half of the chasers are trannies, repressed or not. There's some bisexuals around but again the non-trans ones mostly stick to a handful of generals.
If the demographic hadn't shifted so heavily into trans there'd be very little reason for point 1. to be relevant.
As for 3 and 4, those come down to general decay of online communities, it's happening everywhere.

Sharty and pol fags have tranny derangement syndrome. Unemployed losers coming here to ragebait, psyop, and generally satisfy their sadistic urges spamming the same 5 or 6 transphobic phrases because they are incapable of independent, critical thought. Just safe and hide all such threads and posts. Don’t engage them. They’re like children - just ignore them and they will go away.

For those who don't know, on top of everything everyone else has said, sòyjak party people created an AI agent which is designed to be a professional shitposter. They're programmed to be as obnoxious as possible, and to stir the pot no matter the context or thread topic. You can pick them out if you're on the lookout for them, and once you see it you can't unsee the scale of this shit. It's actively destroying 4chan as a whole desu
