No image because I don’t have anything, sorry.

As the subject says, I’ve been lying to online friends that I’m older by 5 years for the past 11 years. It started when I was around 9 and I wanted to seem more mature on the internet, so I said I was 14 instead. Well, I’m 20 now. I still have some friends who knew me back when I was 10 (“15”), and when they were 14-16 or so. They still think I’m 25 instead of 20. I don’t talk much with them anymore though, maybe once every couple of days.

I just got a job a few months ago, and my close friend group suggested we meet up IRL. Everyone but me is on board (they don’t know I don’t want to because I’m scared of this, though).

The youngest in the group (excluding me) is 24, and the oldest is 30. I’m 20. And they don’t know.

I transitioned at 15 (“20”), and I started sending explicit pictures of myself to a few adult friends when I was 16. They’ll probably realize I was doing that too (though the pictures are long gone).

Genuinely, what am I supposed to do at this point? I have zero other friends who don’t know me as being 5 years older than I actually am. And I have no friends IRL.

Please give me advice. Do I hide it forever? Do I tell them after we meet up IRL? Do I tell them now? Do I make a public announcement? Do I tell them one by one?

Also, this isn't written by an LLM, Windows 11 just decided to add “proper” quotes and I realized too late, sorry.

You just don't tell them.

This is a young mind virus. You're 20 - there is no visible difference between 20 and 25 no matter how many anons claim otherwise.

Go to the meeting and that's it. Meh.

Tell them now. That's your choice. Every other choice is an eventual finding out anyway.
Just write it in general(this sounds like a discord troon thing) and tell people to DM you if they want further explanation.

Age is a social construct and I don't mean that in a meme way. Your body ages at a rate personal to yourself and how much oxidative stress your cells undergo. There are some statistically common age related events, but past puberty it doesn't matter anymore. Looksmaxxers are rapidly ageing due to causing extreme oxidative stress during their teens, and they will age past lazy homebodies two decades older than them. This is the same thing that happens with third worlders.
As long as your friends don't know the number then it's just a number. It all depends on who has the best and who has the worst living conditions after 18.

This sort of insane shit is only possible in our internet addled era. I still find it an alien concept that anyone considers people "close friends" when they've never even met. I don't consider anyone a friend at all until I've met them irl.

I'm amazed that you were able to come across as a 15 year old when you were 10, that's kind of impressive. I'm really not sure what to tell you anon, I don't think anyone will be too pleased that they've been lied too. You may just have to continue the pretense. If you're American, being under 21 might fuck you up because you won't be able to get into bars, if you're in a normal country you should be fine.

Or, you can just come clean and they'll either forgive you or not. That way you risk a friend group but the other way means keeping up this lie forever. I'm not sure what I'd do.

They knew you were underage they just didn’t care
