If you want to be masculine, reliably pass enough and are stealth, you can do all the stuff cis guys can do nowadays and be seen as normal e.g. paint your nails black and have basic hygiene and hair care and you'll be fine and no one will give a shit. Also when you say 'when transitioning', are you alternating between being on T and going off it? If you want to be seen as a man, just go for it anon. Get on T, build muscle, get top surgery asap and you'll likely be okay. You can girlmode until you pass if that's easier, but when you eventually start presenting masculine as long as your friends aren't dicks, I wouldn't worry about being outed, and then you can stealth to other people

Welcome to being a man, you'll get called a faggot for doing a lot of things, just paying it no mind is the best thing to do, but like, conforming obsessively to the idea of masculinity is 80% of being a guy.
If it's any consolation, once you're seen as a man, you'll be seen as a man, it's just a matter of how much respect from other guys you'll get, which is based partially on how much effort you put in, and also how much that effort pays off, which you unfortunately will have less control over
