>The U.S. House on Tuesday passed a bill that would enact a nationwide felony ban on gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth, imposing prison sentences of up to 10 years on providers. The legislation, introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, advanced as a high-stakes messaging vote amid a broader Republican push targeting transgender healthcare, even as Congress faces looming deadlines on expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits that affect millions of Americans. The bill is not expected to pass the Senate, where Democrats retain filibuster power, but its passage marks the first time a national felony trans youth care ban has cleared a full House vote.

>The vote featured defections from both parties. Three Democrats—Henry Cuellar (TX), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), and Don Davis (NC)—crossed party lines to vote in favor of the felony ban, siding with Republicans to criminalize providers and potentially parents involved in transgender youth care. Four Republicans—Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Gabe Evans (CO), Michael Lawler (NY), and Mike Kennedy (UT)—voted against the bill. Three lawmakers from each party voted “present” or did not vote. The bill would have failed were it not for the Democratic defections across the aisle, but instead, it passed 216-211.

>While the Senate is expected to block the measure, advocates warn the House vote will still have consequences—normalizing criminal penalties for standard medical care and setting the stage for further federal and administrative efforts to restrict transgender healthcare nationwide. Furthermore, many people will view the defection of Democrats on the bill as a major betrayal. However, the defection of multiple Republicans in the other direction is noteworthy, and shows there could be some level of resistance to national bans among some in the party who are facing tough elections.

what are the odds this gets fully passed?

YES

sadly not high because of the filibuster

I hope to get rid of the self ID thing. I want to see the gatekeepers come back.
No ID change without physical transition.
SRS a must to amend a birth certificate. No more hons.

stop tolerating brown people
>>
>>42040230
Zero.
It was just a performative thing in the house that was expected the be cleanly split along party lines.
Some of the most right wing democrats crossing the floor is less of a story compared to some of the Republicans that did.
>>42040301
I would like to see a return to treating gender dysphoria as a medical condition (with transition as the treatment). Including locking ID and document changes behind a diagnosis.
The problem is that nobody is actually advocating for the trans medicalist position. You have to pick between the self-ID crowed and those that want all trans people in camps.
There is no room for nuance here.

babe, i dont know who needs to tell you this but a ban on youth is a ban on everyone transistioning

A few years ago this getting even close to considered passing was impossible
The fact that it passed the house and will be a sliver close to almost passing the senate, it is concrete evidence that we straight men are fed up with your trannies bullshit
You didn't want to fuck us guys, all we wanted was to fuck your ass and maybe suck your girl wand. But no. You fucking agp porn addicted freaks turned exclusively t4t.
You're bullshit is over. We're not allowing it. Leave my country.

I can't imagine being so emotionally repugnant as to not be able to fuck trans girls. They literally melt into butter in the palm of your hands and will do anything if you call them pretty, intelligent, and funny. They would do literally anything, for any man with any sort of emotional capability. Looks need not even apply. I cannot imagine being so foul on the inside, so black of soul and wormed of mind that you can't manage to make a trans girl blush and be yours.
>>
>>42040744
Seriously. Do you know how fucking easy the average androphilic tranny is? A guy can just be kind to me and demonstrate the slightest of interest and all I wanna do is cuddle him.

What's the story with these four, what made them sane on this issue?

this will never become law because Teva is an Israeli company

>>42040783
Fitzpatrick, Evans and Lawler are all in swing districts and want to present as moderates at home. Doing this is a good way of selling the old "socially liberal fiscally conservative" lie.

Kennedy makes *no* fucking sense at all, he sponsored a trans youth care ban in Utah as a state senator. Deep red mormon district, I have no idea what changed for him.

IMO a blanket ban on genital surgery for minors excepting medical necessity would be a net good, SRS can wait for adulthood and ending infant circumcision and infant intersex genital surgery would outweigh such a minuscule “price”.

More likely their catholic faith causes them to recognize the struggles of the oppressed and value their eternal souls over the politics of the week.

It's actually kinda funny to me how much (((Americans))) haven't realized the extent to which Catholicism now quietly dominates their politics. I watched the same thing happen in Australia, just all of a sudden having a Catholic faith went from being something that made it impossible to get elected, to something that was mandatory if your party even wanted a shot.

Biden was only the second Catholic president, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Trump wasn't the last non-Catholic president. Hispanics don't vote their race, but Catholics very definitely vote their religion, and we can tell our own.

wasn't it Utah where the state Republicans commissioned that investigation into healthcare for trans-youth to try to get justification for banning it that ended up backfiring on them and showing it was actually beneficial? I know it's rare among politicians but maybe he actually cares about the truth and changed his mind when presented with evidence?

That could be it, i know from experience most of this anti tranny stuff comes from a place of ignorance more than anything

>>42040126
yeah stuff like this is why i always never share trannies imo blind optimism that shit is gonna get better for trannies at some point in the next ~10-20 years
like no it isnt, we are on a serious downward rightward decline that is intrinsically tied to decline in material conditions and it absolutely is not going to improve but rather prob culminate in the balkanization of the us as shit REALLY falls apart
trannies should actually gtfo while they still can tbhon, this country is still on the slow ratcheting climb up the hill of the roller coaster and were not getting off mr bones wild ride ANY time soon

crazy to me that cissoids think that it's totally fine to perform any other kind of cosmetic surgery on minors, so a boob job for a 16 year old cissoid is heckin' valid but as soon as it's for a tranny, it's s 10 year prison sentence

Their opposition has nothing to do with protecting anyone, it's projecting the image to their voters that they're in with Jesus, who declares (in the Evangelical's mind) that those dirty trannies are Satanists for defying GAWD'S HOLY PLAN for their gender.
