Why is the Ex-Gay Movement stigmatized and mocked? If a person isn’t comfortable being homosexual or bisexual, why shouldn’t they try and rectify it? We don’t mock alcoholics for going to AA meetings or relapsing.
>>42091837Is it?I have no issues with homosexuals choosing to live a heterosexual life. That's fine if they wanna do that.I'm only against forced conversion.
>>42091874/thread>>41954674
>>42091874In countries where conversion therapies are banned, they make no distinction between forced conversion therapy and elective conversion therapy.
>>42091837because they're obviously still gay. it's more sad. read this btw
>>42091837Mate there's a church in every street which is basically an ex gay conversion camp out in open. No, the real stigma is coming out in a conservative environment, not being ex gay
>>42091918Conversion therapy in the US is only banned for minors, I'm pretty sure.
>>42091837Not even conservative women take "ex-gay" men seriously.
>>42091918That's not true. Religious counseling and religious therapy still exists in those countries and they're basically the same as conversion therapy in everyway except for name.
>>42091918Because of false advertisment. These therapists are licensed by professional councils and yet evidence shows of all the harm that conversion therapy brings. There's no such thing as converting sexuality. It should be called repression therapy
>>42091919The people who regularly attend AA meetings are still alcoholics. The idea behind therapy is that eventually you won’t need to attend at all.
>>42091972Religion isn’t the only reason someone might find their same-sex attraction uncomfortable or distressing.
>>42091919Interesting, what's that book about? Gay issues?
>>42092003>Religion isn’t the only reasonLet's be honest, when you get inside the ex gay scene, it's 99% based on religion.
>>42091987No, they not necessarily are and you arent alcoholic for life
>>42091987You can't quit being gay like you can quit alcohol. Conversion therapy works on a false, dishonest premise. these therapists are not honest about their work. If they were, they would call "coping with chastity" therapy.
>>42092029You always have the neurological capacity to be an alcoholic though, even decades after kicking the habit. You’re just better prepared for being able to suppress or fight that.
>>42092120everyone has the neurological capacity to be an alcoholic. Everyone can get sick or have drug addictions. straight people don't have the neurological capacity to be gay, and gay people don't have the neurological capacity to be straight
>>42092120being gay isn't intrinsically harmful to your organism like alcohol is. There's no such thing as healthy alcoholism but there's such thing as a healthy homosexual
>>42091919I just did. Good writing style but kinda disappointed when it just became "Stephen King's It: Gay Edition."
>>42091837because the ex-gay movement is full of grifters living closeted lives while attempting to milk the schizo-christian-boomer cash cow. The ones who aren’t making money off that shit are almost entirely braindamaged from religious nonsense.
