I was denied communion by a priest who believes trans women can't receive the sacraments this morning. I really needed Jesus after a week of deadnaming and misgendering by family. So I'm getting drunk and crying at 11am.

The whole week I've been telling myself "At least I've still got Jesus" and then mass came and it was Fr Ronaldo (rogationist, trans inclusive) and I was overjoyed because I could recieve Christ. But then I saw Father Adi (no order, trans exclusive) was there, and I was like "oh no, I hope he isn't taking my aisle", and then I saw the special ministers get up, and one of them was a staunch ally, and I was happy because she was on my aisle. And then I saw them go through the rite, and Fr Adi was standing on the far side, and I was so happy. And then just as I stood up to get in line for communion I saw him, standing at the end of my aisle. All I could do was appologize to the others sitting on my pew and go back to kneeling while holding back the tears. I was so close and then denied. It hurt so much. I could tell I was crying but I manage to not make a noise, and then I left as soon as I could without making a scene. Why did God make me a freak?!?!?!!?

I am very very sorry you have to go through that, not having committed a mortal sin I have never had to worry about being denied communion, so I can't imagine how bad this must feel. However, still, don't lose Jope, and as this is an exceptionnal crisis it requires extraordinary measures, so I would recommend praying and definitely lighting a candle, some other way of getting closer to God.Just think about how good it will feel next time you receive communion, how close to Jesus you will be after being denied in a moment of need, enduring, then finally being released.Your heart is in the right place, you will be okay and your spirit will flourish
