>>42149536You can barely do shit on a single income if you have a decent job, you gotta suck something
>>42149481alright, here's my advice. First, plan your finances carefully. Monitor your monthly income and all of the expected expenses so you're a step ahead (such as your security deposit, first month's rent, costs of moving, setting up your utilities, etc). Also, make sure you save up enough in emergency funds, typically a few months of rent in case anything goes haywire. Before committing to a place, do your research. Search for any apartments but ensue it is safe! Check out the area a bit, look up reviews, etc. Compare prices of places within your price range and jot down the ones you have your eyes on; furthermore, ensure to pay attention to the lease terms, what utilities are provided, any extra fees too like with parking or pets. Also, calculate the distance from your house to your work and any other activities you intend on going to, think about groceries and how often you'll be venturing out and dropping your money on random things. If you lack any form of impactful financial assistance from any family/friends, your budgeting becomes of utmost importance and you mustn't treat it lightly. Decide your maximum rent and never exceed it. Ask for help whenever you can, such as with carrying boxes, doing research, everything, considering this is your first time: especially from people who have already moved such as your parents. When you move in, the sweet spot for rent is around 30%~ of your monthly income but you can go above this, just know that if you do it should only be short-term. Live slightly below average to give way to financial flexibility and to practice mindful economic habits. Lastly, expect to suck ass at it your first time around. It's fine if things don't go your way. Take things one step at a time such as double-checking papers, asking questions, and never rush. Your first place is, well, your first place so don't expect too much, it just needs to provide a safe roof over your head and be ol' reliable whilst you work things out.
>>42149632No I don't want to do that
>>42149085Get a GOVERNMENT jobEasiest way to get a rental/mortgage
>>42149646finding a place is hard I'm especially when I don't know what a city is like and I have no rental historyI'll just rent an airbnb for a month while I check the place out

>>42149157>Genuinely adviceI have moved several times and ended up in a shit place only one time because I rushed it. There are several things to keep in mind.>create a monthly budgetSince you work, if you have consistent hours figure up your expected monthly income. For instance, across all 4 of my monthly checks i should be making 3200 after taxes. This will help identify what you can afford. You rent should AT MOST be 1/3rd of your monthly income. So for me, my apartment is 1065 a month, roughly 1/3 maybe ever so slightly more but not enough to matter.>selecting an apartmentWhen looking you will definitely find some cheap places, but 9/10 times this is a trap because its in the ghetto or there's another major issue your unaware of. For whatever city your looking to move to I recommend joining a Facebook group or hell even posting in their subreddit if its a major city helps. People come through and let you know good areas. Ask your friends and coworkers too.1/2
>>42150200Once you determine a general area or at least where NOT to rent start searching for apartments in that 1/3rd of your income range. A studio works if it is just you. Now the fun part, moving in.Say you find a place you really like and its in a comfortable area. Well, most places are going to want a security deposit equal to rent. For example = 1000 rent = 1000 deposit for a total cost of 2000 to move in. But that's just the start, you also need to have your water, electric, gas(if applicable) and internet connected if your land lord isnt handling it for you which they will explicitly state if they do. So, count on spending at least another 250-350 getting everything connected. Again, call around to the places that support your new place to get estimates. But, you also need home supplies! This can vary wildly depending on how much help you get from friends and family, but you at minimum need these things if your not getting anything from anyone>suppliesA fire extinguisherMop and broom Shower curtainTrashcan Garbage bagsSponge and soap for dishesHygiene suppliesPlates and silverwarePots and pansA bedA first aid kitIf you have to buy EVERYTHING 500$ is a good starting budget. You can accumulate over time but I would recommend having all of these things upon move in. I used my first aid kit day one slicing my thumb open by accident, dont cheap out too bad on those I got the 20-30 dollar one at Walmart and its done me fine. You need to expect your bills to which again, can vary wildly. Internet will be fixed, power an water typically go by usage. I called my electric company before move in and they can tell you estimated monthly costs historically. At least they djd for me.You also want to ensure you have some oh shit money. For car break downs and etc. Id honestly recommend having at least a few months rents saved up ontop of everything else. Expect to quadruple move in costs.2/2
>>42149657I have a government job and they gave me a DISCOUNT to move in. Genuinely my first month was 100$ and rent. No sec deposit, lovely community too.
>>42149151I fucking hate that I've dated trash like this and was stupid enough to try and actually evolve the relationship to adulthood.Don't do that. Just leave.
