Why do so many trans people have such bad opinions on AI? They believe it's evil just because. And so many just believe obvious falsehoods about AI, like so many think AI consume water like a plant or something.
>t.mtf who loves AI
>>
>>42153296
It's making a shitty job market even worse and rapidly accelerating disinformation campaigns around the globe.
>>
>>42153296
Troons opposing an extremely abusable technology is the only time they have a correct opinion they have.
>>
>>42153296
I thinks it not nearly as good as touted, creates more problems than it solves and the solutions it does provide are inefficient solutions to problems that weren't really that large to begin with. Also, the circular economy built around it, energy usage etc. are really scary.
>>
>>42153296
>cognitive bias in display
also slop is still slop
data centres consume lots of water to cool down
>>
It's not evil in of itself but it's way overused by Indians and its making computers and shit more expensive
>>
because most "people" are stupid cattle that know or understand nothing, trannies are not exempt from this
>>
>>42153296
LLMs are actual evil and image generators are almost as pointless a use of compute as NFTs. The other shit that DL is used for like protein folding is pretty cool tho.

>Why do so many trans people have such bad opinions on AI?
For better or for worse, trans people are marginalized and thus disproportionately aware of and sensitive to politics, because politics have such a "major" effect on their lives (note: people as a whole don't give nearly enough shits about material economic policies, like how roads/housing/healthcare gets funded and operates or does not, in favour of "highly visible" issues like civil/criminal law).
Being already engaged with politics, one of the most effective approaches to politics is group affiliation. You band together with other groups that partially aligned or at least not-opposed to your politics, and former a larger group to more effectively claim political power. The group becomes a new identity for the members, and that identity acts as a force to homogenize the politics of the group as a whole and for the individuals participating.
Trans people have strong, political group affiliations with identities such as "artists", "liberals", "progressives", "marxists", etc... and on the balance those group affiliations are tilting towards anti-AI ideologies, even if trans-specific ideologies do not form the basis for a stance on AI, or form the basis for a weak-to-moderately trans-humanist stance towards AI. The group affiliations are strong, and so the preponderance of trans people end up having anti-AI ideologies through osmosis with the group affiliations.

This is not meant to be a normative statement for/against AI, or for/against the group identity approach to politics. I'm purely describing the phenomenon without taking a stance on it in the text above.
That being said, I "like" so-called "AI" as a thing and I'm excited by the medium-to-long term possibilities it brings. I'm just disgusted by some of the short term stuff being pushed right now, because it's still vastly falling short of expectations and yet it's being forced so obnoxiously.

I have been a technologyfag my entire life. Please tell me what makes you love AI. From my perspective it has only ever been useful in one miniscule way. I once asked it if a library had a method to do something I wanted to do and it said yes and gave a name I then looked up in documentation to confirm. So I once managed to use an LLM to be a shitty untrustworthy librarian of sorts.

you could've just said "they're leftist sheep"
>>
>>42153474
Nigga so do the servers for everything else. On average using a LLM isn’t any worse than an hour’s worth of whatever YouTube video “essay” echo chamber slop people like this watch so they can pat themselves on the back about how morally righteous they are
>>
>>42153903
you know the compute between AI and video rendering is not remotely comparable jackass.
>>
>>42153927
Whatever helps you sleep at night lil buddy
>>
>>42153884
Again, I don't think there's anything wrong with the group identity approach to politics. I enthusiastically practice it myself.
I just try to be explicitly aware of the compromises I am making in my personal ideology and outlook on the world for the sake of the advantage of being in a larger and more powerful group.
I keep my mouth shut about my appreciation of AI, because it upsets the people around me and because, honestly, the pro-AI side doesn't need any more help from me. If things were looking a little more bleak for the future of AI and the possibilities it brings, maybe I'd be a bit more vocal about it. But right now, the AI people are winning, even if they are being a little retarded about how aggressively they are spending money on slop when they could still be investing in serious research instead.

It's evil. I'm not debating this. I'm going to blow up substations that connect to AI datacenters

I genuinely cannot comprehend how somebody can engage with AI. Endless gigaquads of the most uninteresting pointless slop, literally endless nothing. And if it isn't being used to make something mindless, it's being used for fraud. Writing fake essays, fake AI advertisements, fake AI products, fake AI everything. Endless slop, endless fakeness, endless nothing. And also, the entire economy is invested into it, is in fact teetering on it, and we need to invest massive amounts of material resources into data centers all to produce more slop.
>>42153884
The reason right wingers love this stuff so much is because they produce no culturally relevant art of their own, despite all the claims of preserving western culture. They'll be the first to tell you that all the artists are leftists, all the media is leftists, Hollywood is leftists, the universities are leftists, and so on and so forth. What exactly do they culturally contribute that any of us engage with for entertainment? Nothing. So they want to force society to accept this mindless brainrot, and you shouldn't

AI is heroic, and hating AI is anti-human in itself. Watch LiquidZulu's defense of AI, and realize that the troons who are anti-AI are purely motivated in a harmful anti-competition mindset wanting to destroy their competition using the government. Take the AI ancap pill, fellow troons.

>fucked up water sources
This is 10,000% the fault of local and state governments unsustainably selling off aquifers for profit.
The data centre only showed up because the water was cheap. If it Texas wasn't deranged and selling off their natural resources for a limp handshake, the data centre would be built somewhere like the great lakes or in the mountains, where surface freshwater is cheap as fuck and doesn't have ecological consequences evaporating it off because entire rivers of it just flow into the ocean.

If they minded the slop in and of itself they wouldn’t be so butthurt about how “hard” it is to find music or art or books that aren’t genai when literally all you need to do is use a search bar for two seconds. Frankly I think people who complain about how allegedly prevalent it is are just telling on themselves for having feeds full of spoonfed algoslop in the first place

Ai is doing nothing but harming you. Anyone who believes in the hype is a sucker.

Bad opinions like yours? Yeah I wonder why that’s so common too. It’s not even AI. That’s marketing. It’s just a language learning machine, a decently good probability predictor if anything. It’s not artificial intelligence. But yeah if you like it so much then go for it. Enjoy your psychosis.

there is innate beauty in things humans create whenever you draw something or write something down there is a part of your soul in that
ai seems like it's just trying to replace that soul instead of actual problems people have

Too much effort to ask the AI to respond for you or something?
I don't like AI because it's already documented the more a human leans on ai the more retarded they become unironically. I also enjoy pushing the boulder up the mountain and doing cool things. Prompting an AI doesnt fall under "cool things" for me, the opposite in fact.
