that's because you're retarded

Why are the dots in the pattern of the happy merchant?

Idk
>>

There was a jannypocalypse about a year or so ago that targeted straight trannies and chasers that removed most of the normal people.
After that 4chan was hacked and it was exposed that 4chan is run by discord trannies who have access to your post history and who explicitly target posters they don't like.
Then the moderation of this board kind of died and with no actual posters it became a cesspit of BNWO spammers, /pol/bait and blogposters.
Most recently there is once again an uptick in the banning of straight posting but the blogspammers like Julie, Big Soph and Veltail get free run, the BNWO threads stay up and the /pol/ tourists get away with it.
The only reason to use this board is to larp and shitpost. All of the soul has been sucked out of it.

qrd/proofs?

Never heard of Julie before who's that

>sharty found out that 4chan was running on some ludicrously bad code
>exploited it to self-mod
>got into the chats that jannies and mods used
>found all their emails
>found the ban log where not only were people's ips logged but also private comments about why people were banned for other jannies to see proving not only were people being targeted but that jannies could see individuals post history which they lied about
>all of this information was dumped and 4chan was taken offline for nearly a week

The german that's built like mewtwo

okay the jannypocalypse was bad but people have been saying
>oh the soul has been sucked out of 4chan
for over twenty years.

this too shall pass.
>>
>>42182539
The board will only build itself back up if it is allowed to. Right now it's a glorified discord server.
>>
>>42182554
okay so what's the solution?
>>
>>42182571
Delete the BNWO spamming and ban the cunts doing it, delete the /pol/flooding and ban the cunts doing it, stop the blogfags from spamming the board. Let people /soc/ post again at least until the board builds back up a population of mid trannies.
>>
>>42182398
The jannypocalypse was more like late 2023

alright sounds good to me. hopefully that happens soon.

/lgbt/ sucks today
>>42182607
Honestly, the /pol/flooding has been pretty notable lately. I thought it was just the end of the year, but I don't remember if I was on here as much previous end of the years...
>>42182649
Redpill me on rdrama? I never heard about it before, but now I seem to be hearing about it every 14 minutes.
>>
>>42182701
The /pol/ flooding is only more noticeable because of the state of the board.
Here's how the ecosystem worked:
>trannies self-post
>get attention from men
>board becomes an easy farm for validation from mid-pretty trannies
>men come here for mid-pretty trannies
>mid-pretty trannies stay here to post other stuff
>board naturally becomes more engaging because most of the user base are mid-pretty trannies
>trickle down effect means ugly trannies who don't self post still get attention
>deluded transbians that engage with /pol/bait aren't enough to keep the threads from sliding
>blogposters are limited to one thread if they don't want it to slide
>board has enough of a variety of people that the threads stay interesting and keep bringing people back
When the board is just a bunch of ugly mentally ill transbians naturally /pol/flooding will prosper because it is easy to get them to take the bait.

return of moot
total site redesign and 4chan pass only boards
credit card/ID level bans
no im not joking, were that fucked
>>
>>42182749
I'm a repper, so I feel excluded from this ecosystem, but as a repper I feel excluded from most things, so, eh.
That said, I see how the model works. I suppose the questions would be:
>why did mid-pretty trannies leave?
>how do mid-pretty trannies come back to take up more space?
Did you have the "cut the BNWO and chud posts" solution? Do you think everyone just got forced out by those threads, so pruning them more aggressively will free up space for mid-pretty trannies to return because no one ever leaves?
Like...it shouldn't work, but I can see it working.
>>
>>42182772
This interests me because I'm technically a newfag (I really started seriously lurking/posting circa 2020), but I'm old enough to be an oldfag. So I'm a Venn diagram of poor choices.
Are you saying a return of moot himself or a return of moot ideals? I think what you're describing is more gated, like other "social media" sites like Facebook or even Linkedin.
I sound super pretentious saying this, but do you think 4chan is having an existential crisis?
>>
>>42182869
no, i think 4chan is shot. i keep repeating this on here but 4chan is a millennial era website that coasted on the inertia of its popularity and lax rules in the face of a trend in social media that sought to erase it. in 2025 it has been almost entirely subsumed by discord and is now a secondary community for almost everyone on the board, where in the early 2010s it was the primary community and skype/steam groups were the secondary ones.

moot ideals might work, but really you need an experienced person with the kind of will it takes to remake a site so i dont know if moot even could if he by some miracle did decide to come back (probably impossible given 4chans owner is locked into a data contract anyway).

i think this place is fucked. i think most of the original users of this site are probably long gone, as are most of every generation of users pre-2016. i really cannot stress just how different this site is now compared to how it was even in 2015. the only oldfags left here are the ones for whom there is ultimately nowhere else to go, and a lot of us take solace in having lives or have largely shifted to alternative imageboard like communities anyway.

>>
>>42182915
This is pretty much all true
4chan was on the way down in the early 2010s and then got big bumps from gamergate/2016 election/covid but now I think it's too far gone
>t. 2007 oldfag
>>
>>42182701
>Redpill me on rdrama
Free speech discord/imageboard/reddit/myspace hybrid but the chud accounts can be temporarily punished with modifiers and a focus on overly dramatic internet posting. It's a good time
>>
>>42182948
i remember there being a bit of a slump in like, 2012-2014 pre-gg, and then the rise of 8ch and some really bad moderation policies drew a ton of users off site to what was essentially proto discord.
>>
>>42182915
>>42182948
Well. Fuck.
As I said, repper who is part of the covid bump, in part cos I knew reddit wasn't going to work for me.
I actually avoided discord cos it seemed less anonymous, and I grew up on a presumably (if not actually) anonymous web.
So I guess the next question is
>are we all kinda screwed?
>>
>>42182996
yep. if you stop and take a minute to think about what it would take to shield an imageboard from the issues that plague the modern web youd wind up with something so wrapped up and difficult to maintain that youd probably never get anywhere with it. imageboards as we know them are fucked.
>>
>>42182398
>jannypocalypse
wtf was that? this board was always run by /pol/bait so i just skim over and don't read anything that looks even remotely like it.

> banning of straight posting
what qualifies as straight posting? i've caught some retarded ass bans for "attention whoring" but i feel like mods have been more ban-happy in general across the website for at least the past 4-6 months

>>42182539
>>oh the soul has been sucked out of 4chan
>for over twenty years.
people have been saying some variation of this for forever but i don't take anybody who didn't naturally observe a serious shift across the internet in 2016 (4chan being ground zero for bot posting, for what should be obvious reasons)
>>
>>42183027
Well. Happy Christmas everyone. Modern web does suck imo. I personally chalk that up to web being integrated with offline life, but I'm old. Still, I do believe web being distinct was a shield unto itself.
>>42183034
This feels like an incomplete thought. You don't take anybody who didn't observe a shift across the internet in 2016 as/for/?...?
>>
>>42183097
>Well. Happy Christmas everyone. Modern web does suck imo. I personally chalk that up to web being integrated with offline life, but I'm old. Still, I do believe web being distinct was a shield unto itself.
oh absolutely. mass adoption of the web by normies was a death sentance unto itself. motherfuckers brought TV culture onto our sacred information space.
>>
>>42183097
>You don't take anybody
seriously. i don't take them seriously.
i type faster than i think sometimes sry

either these people are too young to remember the before-times, newly online (i.e part of the incoming "wave" of people who weren't online before social media was normalized (normies or just old people basically), or they're just arguing in bad faith to be annoying (often bots, but also people who don't see the change as being bad; incel-types who mirror the simulacra of what they imagine to be "old 4chan" (an asshole for no reaason) and think everywhere should be like that).
