Compared to the "old movie classics" like we all even watch today, homosexual inclusion is quite drastic from the formula so it sticks out2. Many of these characters are written terribly and their entire story boils down to extremely generic plots about bigotry that we've seen a million times by now. The sassy quips about white ppl or men or whatever that these characters (or other characters) often deliver just make this worse. Idgaf about a character's demographics and I doubt the majority of ppl do either. I care if a character is written well. If they were written well, I doubt so many ppl would be complaining about this.
