This thread is dedicated to informing people genuinely questioning the legitimacy of being transgender, educating lurkers/posters of /lgbt/, as well as dismantling the idiocy, misinformation/disinformation and bad faith actors from transphobes (/pol/). Please refer to the following link when discovering a fallacy as well as properly linking to any of the following studies that most accurately counters flawed logic, or best supports the evidence and legitimacy for being transgender when questioned.

>Citations on the transition's dramatic reduction of suicide risk while improving mental health and quality of life, with trans people able to transition young and spared abuse and discrimination having mental health and suicide risk on par with the general public:
* Bauer, et al., 2015: Transition vastly reduces risks of suicide attempts, and the farther along in transition someone is the lower that risk gets.

* Young Adult Psychological Outcome After Puberty Suppression and Gender Reassignment. A clinical protocol of a multidisciplinary team with mental health professionals, physicians, and surgeons, including puberty suppression, followed by cross-sex hormones and gender reassignment surgery, provides trans youth the opportunity to develop into well-functioning young adults. All showed significant improvement in their psychological health, and they had notably lower rates of internalizing psychopathology than previously reported among trans children living as their natal sex. Well-being was similar to or better than same-age young adults from the general population.

* The only disorders more common among trans people are those associated with abuse and discrimination - mainly anxiety and depression. Early transition virtually eliminates these higher rates of depression and low self-worth, and dramatically improves trans youth's mental health. Trans kids who socially transition early and who are not subjected to abuse or discrimination are comparable to cisgender children in measures of mental health.

I've been willingly talking to transphobic cis people as "one of the good ones" for like 21 years now, and most of them, especially the ones who would knee-jerk respond to a thread like this, are not interested in scientific research or genuine inquiry about why we experience our bodies the way we do. They are convinced it's a fetish or a trauma response in the way some people believe in astrology or God, and that's that. The only way to shake that is a revelation in their personal life or projecting really strong vibes, basically.

The ones who are changeable are the ones who are outwardly polite but hold transphobic sentiments. Those will creep up to you (after a couple drinks or after you get close enough and prove you will tolerate some bigotry) and ask you for information like this.

Not tell you you should stop trying if you don't want to, OP. Just letting you know in case you want to pinpoint your efforts more.
>>
>>42276577
I’m thoroughly aware but I hold firm the belief and important that just having concrete evidence that immediately destroys any nonsensical argument aimed at delegitimizing being transgender, will easily and consistently expose the hypocrisy, maintain no question of their trolling, and permanently reveal their disingenuous and ignorant nature for all to see when venturing on this board. This will also help properly educate the other trans folk that may have been misled due to those same trolls or transphobes who reference disproven theories such as blanchardism or conversion therapy. The trolling becomes less effective when they’re faced with literal peer reviewed papers.
>>
>>42276687
Fair enough. I'm all for making sure we all have that knowledge, not least because it's genuinely interesting.

I similarly try to give my perspective on recent trans history for the new or newly-transitioned. Since I came out young and in the early 00s, and was pretty well-informed on how things were going through my work, I feel I should step in given how many bad faith or just ignorant cis people are telling us our own history as of late.

Would rather have seen research on best surgery methods, but nice try anyway. Trans treatment is still a taboo and a wild west with next to none controls and quality checks.
>>
>>42277828
It’s only as much taboo so long as the people remain uneducated and refuse reality. Constantly exposing them to how irrational and emotionally charged transphobes behave in the face of scientific evidence will continue to deteriorate their flawed world view, forcing them to contend that they willfully live in a fantasy out of fear and discomfort rather than anything resembling truth.

Going to post in this thread because I can't seem to find a thread for my questions but I'll start with on topic shit

OP your thread is doomed because most trans hate has occured due to the behavior of trans people being criticized and the trans community defending it, nobody liked drag queen story hour, nobody liked reikos grooming cult, and nobody liked all hobby groups becoming trans groups, this is just the fallout from shit that happened years ago, I'm sure it will go away eventually, but unfortunately that's just how it is right now

>My questions
I'm going to be starting on HRT at 30, I have enough money to deal with the problems age is going to give me, and enough self respect to deal with the problems height is going to give me

Basically, what kind of estrogen is the best kind for passing, how much do I want to take (I'm just going to be going to planned parenthood for it and I imagine that wont be the best stuff unless I fight for better) and how often? for the most impactful results I mean
>You will never pass
I don't really care about passing, I care about looking cute enough in the mirror that I smile, instead of being disgusted and seeing a man there
>>
in the current post-truth presidency i believe method of defence has worn its stay. you are talking about people seeing how delusional transphobes are when we are living in a world where a criminal pedophile president can abduct the leader of another country, blatantly make it about oil, and have people hallucinate their own justification. i think it is better to put this energy into a separatist movement
>>
>>42279620
>OP your thread is doomed
It will always serve the purpose of shutting up and exposing just how dysfunctional and irrational anti-trans proponents are, and still offers enlightenment towards those questioning their gender that had previously false information. Foundational, solid information will continue to serve as a means to expose and dismantle the ignorant.

>Basically, what kind of estrogen is the best kind for passing, how much do I want to take
Your question is best answered from /hrtgen/ as they particularly have a wealth of experience in regards to this. Your dose and method will vary due to your genetics/endocrinology which is why it’s typically best if you could get a hold of a trans-inclusive medical practitioner who doesn’t hon dose. That said; I’m not an endocrinologist so take my advice with fair skepticism:

There isn’t a “best kind” of estrogen for passing. Your body just needs the minimum amount of e levels and time in order to help the body develop towards that typical for female body types. Injections are always regarded as the best method (once weekly doses, some prefer injecting every 5-4 days for longer higher peaks of E) but you want to be consciously monitoring for excessive levels of E. Too high can lead to hormonal complications long term regarding the thyroid gland and pituitary. Alternative options of pellets that are injecting and last for several months before next dose, patches, pills, and creams/topical (have not heard any reliable results with just topical application). If you take pills/oral route you’d want to go on 2mg probably 3-4 doses a day (but this highly depends on your body weight ratio and genetics so do more research and preferably be advised by an endocrinologist).

You’ll also need to be on an anti-androgen to stop the effects of testosterone from further masculinizing the body. Options include bicalutamide, spironolactone, dutasteride, and more.
>>
Reminder that posting these sources has already shut down a handful of bait/chud posting just by presence alone when pressing their logic.
