The development of attraction in an individual is complex and any number of largely unpredictable and uncontrollable abnormalities can cause same sex attraction. Gay men are often (but not always) primarily attracted to feminine men and gay women are often attracted to masculine women because sexual orientation isn't a single switch that can be flipped.The trait still exists because homosexuality can coexists with bisexuality (as seems to be about twice as common that way), it's not 100% certain that children from the same parents will turn out gay, and the fact that gay people are often executed if they're unable to force themselves to breed whether they want to or not.

I don't understand how heterosexuality is even possible. Men and women are opposites, who the hell can have a loving relationship with someone totally different? It just makes zero sense.
