does your voice get 5-10x worse as soon as you go above minimum speaking volume? please help with this!

i am not in a space where im able to talk loudly currently but yeah . especially when i sing if i have to go anywhere in highish notes with any volume at all beyond regular talking it just crumbles. i really wish i knew how to fix this
