When humanity feels pressured, we divide into two groups along any arbitrary lines where people are different and fight it out to reduce the population, and thus the pressure, on ourselves. Its why christians fought christians, muslims fought muslims, its why straights will fight gays and left will fight right. Its not personal, this is just how our monkey brains have worked for 10,000 years and humanity hasn't changed a bit. So yes, you're easy targets, and the media gave you enough attention and fake acceptance that you bought it and now you think 35% of the human race cares about this much smaller minority they have nothing in common with.
