hi anons, i made a post like this a while ago but i wasn’t really sober then. i’m sober now so i’ll ask again: how do i know if detransition is right for me?
i’m mtf, former tripfag here, i transitioned in my teens and although i pass and everyone irl knows me only as a woman, i deeply regret transition.
i am severely mentally ill and have only really received good treatment for it over the past two or so years. i feel increasingly disoriented about my gender though.
i was abused and groomed, and while ptsd might explain part of these issues i think really it’s deeper. i don’t want to be a man, but i also don’t want to be a woman. transitioning once wrecked my life, so why would transitioning again (backwards this time) be any different? i have a loving and healthy relationship, though this could very well ruin it.
idk what to do. i have an orchiectomy so i would need to either stay on hrt, or go on testosterone. i’d also need top surgery definitely.
how do i know if detransition is right for me? i don’t want to fuck up my life again in the same exact fashion as last time. it would at the very least mean that i can live in closer alignment with my deeply held beliefs, but even then idk if it’s worthwhile.
i don’t know what’s wrong with me, and i don’t know what to do.

>i don’t want to be a man, but i also don’t want to be a woman
are you maybe just non binary?
>>
>>42362781
i don’t believe in that sort of thing.
>>
>>42362684
The whole point of not ruining your body in the first place is to benefit from things you didn't fully understand, the wisdom of ages. You sided with a different group of intelligent doctors when you transitioned. They're nothing compared to the original, but they are smarter and bigger than detransition science. I would either wait for detrans to become popular and studied, should be only a couple years, or just dance with the one that brung you.
>>
>>42362829
what do you mean by “detransition science”?
besides, how am i supposed to trust doctors when they’re part of the apparatus that pushes transition in the first place? they’re at least partially responsible for this world
>>
>>42362803
“You best start believing in non Binary's, Miss "confused"... you're in one!”
>>
>>42362684
What are your issues with being a woman?

>>42362881
Doctors really don't push transition. Do you know how much it's gatekept for most trannies?
>>
>>42362881
I mean I have no idea what detransitioning would do to you, what kind of person it would create, or if that person would be happy. There isn't enough data yet.

Transitioning has been a human goal since prehistory, doctors are not at fault for making it possible. Porno, gentle parenting, and antinatalism are much bigger villains in that regard. Mentally getting ahead of those dark forces in society is the important part, so you can be a positive influence to others. As for your dysphoria, the other reason it's not a good idea to transition is because it's ok to be a masculine woman or feminine man. It's more than ok, it's distinctive and interesting. You still need to get past the homophobic and antifeminist bimbo aspects of transition.
>>
>>42362971
Lol what kinda weirdo propaganda exists. Transition is about altering your biology to either ease discomfort (for dysphorics) or to complete development (for PAIS and intersex people).

Trans people are more likely to be both gay and GNC than cis people.
>>
>>42362996
No, it's about changing genders. You can split hairs that the discomfort results from not being the right gender, but the fact is nobody's looking for a cure that doesn't involve performative change.
>>
>>42362906
well we’re all nonbinary in a way, but again it’s not real in any meaningful sense of the word
you’re either a man or a woman, and that’s the problem
>>42362922
it just doesn’t feel right. i think transition is running away from some other problem (sexuality, selfhood, connection, religion, aging, etc.) for people who do it for non-fetishistic reasons. it’s also culturally popular rn, it’s pushed by the media and medicine and was very common in a lot of communities i was in as a kid online (mostly ftms though) … like i said though, the fact that i’m uncomfortable being a woman doesn’t mean i think being like, a *man* would be better. i feel disgusted by that thought. i don’t feel great about the feminine parts of my body either though. like i said, i feel like nothing.
>>
>>42363008
Actually, there are plenty of people with dysphoria seeking alternative treatment and finding workable alternatives that help them with their milder causes of dysphoria.

But that doesn't work for many of us who have far more severe issues re: sexual characteristics. I didn't change genders. I'm changing sex.
>>
>>42363010
This sounds like bog standard TERF propaganda lmao. We have plenty of evidence surrounding genetic and neurological causes behind gender dysphoria as well as other health conditions treated with transition.

If you have parts of your body you may be uncomfortable with, it may not be dysphoria, and this goes both ways (transition and detransition). But that doesn't mean that transition is just "running away from other problems."
>>
>>42363010
since when has media pushed transition?

the vast majority of even supposedly inclusive media demonizes medical transition to some degree

most people in even the most accepting countries begrudgingly accept trannies at best, with much more vehement hatred than actual support
>>
>>42363010
>you’re either a man or a woman, and that’s the problem
I guess nonbinary is real in the sense that you are fucked no matter what you do.

imo you should stick with what you got and build on it but im not you

the way trans people react and call everything that is even vaguely dissonant with their world view “terf propaganda” or “transphobic” is kinda part of the problem. it’s this disgusting, totalizing ideology that becomes this weird pseudo-religious movement. that’s why the “trans community” is so full of abuse and grooming—it’s like any other cult.
and like i said i’m uncomfortable with my body sometimes, and with how i’m perceived by people. i don’t want to be either gender, but maybe it’d be best to try to be a feminine male?
transition 1 destroyed my life though and it took years to build something nice for myself, so i can’t imagine transition 2 would be any better.
>>42363086
have you watched tv recently?
>>
>>42362684
you just sound like a self hating tranny tbhon. I kinda want to detroon too tho, trannyism is too fake and gay for me
>>
>>42363103
The "running away from other issues" as the cause of *all* non-fetishistic transition is 100% TERF propaganda. You started the absolutism.
>>
>>42363103
>em dash
israelgpt generate me a detrans rant that my fellow gender critical femboy idf agents will enjoy
>>
>>42363024
How do you know it doesn't work? How many methods have you tried? I think you're more interested in how society responds to your body parts than just a standard anxiety disorder about them.
>>
>>42363120
i don’t hate myself, i just hate others. and i hate the world too a little bit, but i love the world more than i hate it.
>>42363142
it’s punctuation retard. the machines won’t take punctuation away from me.
>>
>>42363155
Other treatment methods have been tried historically to little success, including ECT and even lobotomies. None have found as much QoL improvement and reported happiness as transition for severe cases of GD. Purely therapeutic approaches have also been, historically, incredible abusive and ineffective for resolving GD.

Will Powers has helped treat minor cases with vitamin and mineral supplementation. He also found that for some cases of dysphoria, a short period of hormone supplementation resolved it and patients were able to continue life as normal after ceasing treatment.

We treat it differently because the symptoms present very differently and we have a significant amount of evidence from both genetic, developmental, and neurological studies to demonstrate that GD is a unique condition distinct from anxiety disorders.
>>
>>42363173
"self hating X" also means hating the demographic that you're a part of, like "self hating nigger" is a less polite version of "uncle tom"
>>
>>42363204
You don't have gender dysphoria though, you have a problem with specific body parts remember
>>
>>42363220
i might prefer not to be part of that demographic, but idk if that’s even possible. in a way i think transition leaves irreversible damage.
>>
>>42363236
What do you think gender dysphoria is? Do you think my phantom genitalia syndrome isn't part of gender dysphoria? Do you think my severe distress over my secondary sex characteristics isn't part of gender dysphoria?
>>
>>42363247
Sounds like your issue is with the demographic, then. Also "irreversible damage" is another TERF keyword lmao. Would you want to have developed as a phenotypically standard male?
>>
>>42363258
You said you don't care about the performative gender aspects. That sounds more like anxiety to me, from 30,000 feet.
>>
>>42363286
Wouldn't caring about the performative aspects be *more* indicative of anxiety? Body parts causing distress is very standard GD symptoms, moreso than social issues.
>>
>>42363270
no, but like i said i don’t want to be female either really. i’d be fine with being male if i could look like an anime boy. idk what i want to look like. i want to be nothing.
>>
>>42362684
> it would at the very least mean that i can live in closer alignment with my deeply held beliefs
found jesus?
>>
>>42363316
So, non-binary. Faglet. Whatever you wanna call it. I too would enjoy being a weird yaoi boy because it's a whole lot less stressful than being a tranny, comes with less baggage, and would resolve some of my body issues.

But overall it sounds like you're depressed and disillusioned with mainstream tranny culture.
>>
>>42363334
>found jesus?
no.
or at least not yet lol
>>42363346
what do i do with that then?
>>
>>42363363
TheyFAB or HRTfemboy mode tbhon. I wouldn't quit HRT. That would probably be worse for you in the long run. Maybe try binding.
>>
>>42363309
No, anxiety refers to mental anguish over a lack of control. Someone with social anxiety becomes a shut-in, physical anxiety manifests as a desire for physical change. Wanting to change gender is it's own thing, which I suspect you are interested in. Otherwise, why not find out for yourself if medication, behavioral health or supplements help?
>>
>>42363383
yeah, maybe. but i have a real career and a girlfriend (cis lesbian) and that sort of change could fuck those things up. i need to KNOW that detransition is right before i do it. if i go through with it i can’t back out, i have to be certain this time.
>>
>>42363473
I literally did that. I was on SSRIs and vitamin supplementation for a fucking decade and they did jack shit because I've had phantom genitalia since I was 10. All it did was keep me from transitioning sooner and give me permanent distress due to irreversible changes that earlier intervention could have prevented.
>>
>>42363485
It doesn't sound like you actually want detransition though, just pivoting, but your preconceptions surrounding alternative gender identities is keeping you from doing what you actually want.
>>
>>42363492
I've heard a lot of bad things about SSRI use especially in children. Not saying you're wrong, but that regimen is a product of its time.
>>
>>42363542
i have to either:
a.) remain socially a woman, which is uncomfortable or;
b.) detransition and try to be comfortable with my birth sex, even if i remain on hrt
the latter seems more honest to me but it might be bad, and it would probably be very destabilizing for me.
>>
>>42363568
Yeah, it's because it's over prescribed for things that it shouldn't be used to treat, like GD.

If people had fucking listened to me as a little faglet I'd be doing a lot better right now.
>>
>>42362684
>i pass and everyone irl knows me only as a woman

Conclusion: Detrooning is a very bad idea for you.
Make the best of the already functional life you have, nona. Why destroy something which largely works (as you further admit in other comments)?
Resist the temptation to destroy. Instead, build something. Make your relationship better, get a better job (or go to a better school, your age is unclear).
From what you wrote here, detrooning is by far the worst decision you can make at this point.
It's a lot easier to learn to be comfortable with being a woman than go through the unmitigated hell of detrooning.
I have never met or heard about a detrooner who is happy. Ever.

Live, nona. Stop wallowing and enjoy life.

OP, if you feel "disgusted" by the thought of being a man, don't detransition.

All the political and debate hooks you're posting about your conservative beliefs aren't really relevant. You can be conservative and transphobic if you want while being trans. It's really just about preference regarding your body's appearance.

Trying to choose your gender or choose not to be trans just because you have a belief that it's wrong won't work. Most trans people believed that at one point and it only causes suffering. You don't have to suffer for your beliefs you can just exist at odds with them.

If you ask me the fact that you ask 4chan if you should detransition kind of reveals how you're not thinking about it right. It's not something that the opinion of strangers should really matter with.
