>what is INTERGEN?INTERGEN is a general for intersex people to talk to each other about their experiences or just to hang out>what is an intersex person?Intersex people are those born with any of several sex characteristics, including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies>am I intersex? We are not doctors, please seek medical advice, but dont be afraid to ask questions here to maybe understand things better>are trans people intersex?Trans people are not inherently intersex, however an intersex person can transition if they want, “neurologically intersex” is not real as being intersex pertains to the sex organs or hormonal productions>how is this /lgbt/?We share similar experiences of discrimination and social prejudice based on sex and gender norms, even though intersex is a variation of sex characteristics, not a gender identity or sexual orientation itself—————————>QOTT>intersex animals found in nature
Growing up in western pa there were some deers due to realistically inbreeding and like no dumping laws they were hermaphroditic I’ll see if I can pull up the article about the find
>>42568835Inbreeding isn't a "cause" of hermaphroditism. Inbreeding can be done for many generations without negative effect. The only thing inbreeding does is increase the rate of recessive traits accumulating since you need two copies of recessive genes to work. If the recessive trait is not beneficial, you may end up with it fixed in your population unless you outbreed. When we inbreed for positive outcomes, we call it "line-breeding" instead of inbreeding. This can be done for generations with only positive outcomes when done right. The deer being hermaphroditic in a specific population is less likely due to the inbreeding "causing" hermaphroditism, but due to the genes for it being more concentrated in an area which can be caused by inbreeding--but the genes themselves must be heritable first, the inbreeding itself doesn't really "invent" them from nowhere just due to inbreeding.Inbreeding makes "hidden" genes appear more often (as recessives need two copies to express), but it does not conjure those genes from nowhere, and those hidden traits can be good or bad. Inbreeding doesn’t “cause” hermaphroditism; it can only increase the likelihood that pre-existing heritable factors associated with it become expressed. If no such heritable factors exist in the population, inbreeding alone cannot produce the trait.
>>42569262Thank you for writing that I’m kinda just working off of memory from like 2008ish when I lived there before I left home, so like my bad. It seemed like there were a lot of things going on with the deer there, I tried to find out more but there’s actually numerous articles about deer that are hermaphroditic it seems pretty common
>>42569485Too many people think intersex people are all inbred when it is usually not the case.
>>42569579No I know that (like I know my parents aren’t related and yet here I am) but I didn’t help and instead was a dummy and wrote without thinking about it thoroughly

https://www.mdpi.com/2076-2615/12/7/865 Study about roe deer
>>42573933Sorry I just saw we were at page 10, it’s interesting studySummary from the article >Disorders of sexual development (DSDs) are characterized by incongruity between the genetic and phenotypic sex, which can be caused by anomalies in sex differentiation or gonad sex development, or abnormal sexual-hormone secretion and receptor-expression patterns during embryonic development. DSD cases can retain both ovarian and testicular tissues in one single gonad (ovotestis) or in two separate gonads. These disorders have already been described in different mammalian species, including domestic animal species. However, reports of sexual abnormalities in wild species are scarce. The present work reports a specimen of roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L.) with an intersex phenotype, as the animal presented antler growth in the presence of a typically female genital phenotype. A clinical, histopathological, and molecular study was subsequently performed.
>>42569579do you think theres different like % of intersex per ethnic group?like 40% of my north american aboriginal friends are intersex of some kind
>>42573961I dunno, I might look stuff up tomorrow, afaik my meemaw was a rezzie baby but that’s a whole lotta nonsense and I’m the only one with my specific problems in our family, but then again I genuinely have no idea about where things branch off to or from; curious idea at least
