i think this misses the point. the problem with smartphones is that they are locked-down devices controlled by anti-human egregores that do not care about their users' well-being. desktop and laptop computers are better only because of the historical accident that they spent enough time as a niche product to develop a significant hobbyist tinkerer market who will not accept locked down products. the demons are constantly trying to shift those products to be more smartphone-like and are stopped only by the fact that the tinkerers can trivially switch to linux.
