BPD exists as a series of behaviors that cluster and are predictable. I'm not sure why you think there is this need to fulfill a quote of "BPD" individuals. As BPD exists as a Cluster B personality disorder and generally speaking Cluster B is considered untreatable for the most part. DBT therapy is the best that can be offered, but there isnt' a multibillion dollar industry for BPD drugs. The best you can do is treat the symptoms around it (Depression, anxiety ect) but if that was the case why not just diagnose them as depressed?

The DSM is its best tool for people's internment. If you want the most rough picture of the DSM: they used to diagnose slaves escaping from plantations as having a disorder. Now, which succeeding part of this economy of psychiatry gets the most cotton? It's ones who feel inclined to keep people sick instead of utilizing the DSM properly. Most diagnoses are nearly fucking useless in this scenario.

You forget that there are plenty for its comorbidities. You forget that there's an industry for "disorders" beyond drugs. If they're motivated by this kind of profit, why the fuck would you say there's no kind of quota that exists? Even some psychiatrists of today refrain from diagnosing some people with BPD because of how this newfound identity immediately affects patients to the point they act for it and make it an excuse for everything as a nearly "untreatable disorder".
