hi, i recently watched the castration movie anthologies and loved them to bits. id love to see other queer movies but im not very familiar with the scene, ive seen tongues untied and i-be area but thats about it.any pointers? would love to know about some other important/relevant directors and movies. im a faggot for direct cinema, dogme 95-esque stuff, etc etc, but im fine with other things that dont fit the criteria. thanks ^.^
i now pronounce you chuck and larry
>>42765879There is nothing as good as castration movie out there yet. I’m sorry
>>42765895fml. at least the next part comes out soonish
>>42765879GONIN. demonic gay yakzua movie with takeshi kitano wearing an eyepatch
>>42765879The People's Joker
>>42765939HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS, about a long haul driver(? maybe?) cruising and killing. incredibly dark, no dialogue, shot on video, barely an hour longhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkjvyrzQLVg
Funeral Parade of Roses is a famous oneyou've got your Derek Jarman and your RW Fassbinder and your Kenneth Anger and your Gregg Araki but you probl know all them alreadyidk i don't really care enough about or like being queer enough to be majorly into "queer cinema" but that's all classic shit
>>42765951SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST, perverted lesbian nunsploitation, gorgeous cinematography. a girl gets bound with rose thorns. awesome movie
How about a steamy jungle movie featuring shirtless men?
>>42765939neat! same takeshi kitano of sonatine?>>42765951oooooooooooooooo hell yes im watching this now>>42765952oh i heard an album a long time ago with a song called funeral parade of roses (material girl "tangram"). ill check it out>you probl know all them alreadyyou overestimate me, sorry
>>42765959speaking of nuns, the films of Su Friedrich, lesbian avant-garde director who worked mostly in short form, no works over 70 minutes. very self-reflective. RULES OF THE ROAD is her best work and a little underrated.
Queer cinema is complete and utter garbage that only gets viewed by the most obnoxious people.
>>42765975i'm from israel by the way if that matters.
>>42765979A lot of queer cinema comes from Israel.
>>42765971>you overestimate me, sorryi wasn't sure whether you were already coming from a cinephile perspective or not lmao. they're pretty famous names among film lovers and they're all worth checking out
>>42765971 the very same! here are two more, TABOO and KUBI, both movies are set in feudal japan and about homosexuality driving people crazy. first is a lot more serious than the latter, which is a total farce; kitano takes a step back in both films, more of an observer than a participant, but he directed the second one.
>>42765959oh i have got to see this>>42765960lawl, its been a while since ive seen anything with schwarzenegger in it>>42765972loooooks cool :>>>42765975filtered
>>42765993final recommendation is the films of Tsai Ming-liang. nobody ever even says the word gay in any of them but it's an undercurrent to most of his films along with urban alienation. somehow in the late 90s he made a movie that culminates in gay incest an international arthouse hit hope these recommendations have been of some help, wish i could recommend some non LGB stuff but i mostly watch older shit and Funeral Parade of Roses was already cited <3
>>42765879can someone explain this movie without me having to watch 6 hours of self indulgent monologuing. Does it get better? I got like an hour in.
>>42765992all good lol, i watch stuff occasionally but i think i have a pretty outsider perspective to movies>>42765993thank you for sharing!
>>42766000>filteredThank god. Queer media types tend to be ugly.
>>42766002feel free to rec anyway, i dont got much going on in life.>>42766010did you get to the end of the first chapter or no? a little after the first hour that whole thing resolves. but if you didnt like it then you probably wont like the rest lol
The Wounded Man, Mysterious Skin, Y Tu Mamá También, My Own Private Idaho, Portrait of Jason, Crash (1996), Monster (2023), A Special Day (1977), That Old Dream That Moves, Stranger by the Lake, and Mulholland Drive are my favs :)
>>42765879Where do I watch Castration Movie without paying $15 for it?
>>42766104its on gumroad for $5 (louiseweard.gumroad.com) or just use any torrent tracker ever if youre broke
>>42766118>any torrent tracker ever if youre brokeI am and it's not there. And that gumward thing is asking for $30 canadian.
>>42766125i found like 10 people upping the movie on soulseek which isnt even meant for movies lol, idk what youre doing
>>42766133I went to 1337x, tpb, and limetorrents, no results. I really don't want to dl soulseek.
>>42765879A Fantastic Woman by Sebastian Lelio, beware there's 2 translations on the bluray both w/o specific labels and one's much better than the other
>>42766142yeah i checked 3 private trackers and none of them had it, you might just have to nut up and download soulseek or pay, anon. might be a mega drive out there if you try searching twitter with the right keywords
>>42766286I'm not doing any of that. I'm going to watch sense8 and wait till this gets popular enough for a torrent.
People kinda just recommending anything RN but really you should have already seen Moonlight
>>42766010>Does it get better? I got like an hour in.its pretty similar the entire movie, which is what you would expect from a lower budget, closer to life, anthology movie. try skipping to chapter 2 in the first movie and see if you like those characters more. You will miss something by skipping ahead, but pointless to watch the whole thing if you're not enjoying it
>>42765879what are you actually looking for OP? if its carbon copies of castration movie then youll be disappointed. If it's movies about the lives of trans people of many different backgrounds, then there is a whole world of trans cinama, from indie to high budget. So what do you want?
