Abuse is just one risk factor, it can be many factors related and unrelated to being trans.

Identity diffusion, the largest core component of bpd, is a logical outcome severe gender dysphoria that isn't resolved early enough(either by effective repression or some degree of inclusion into the social group of one's preferred gender) If you're dealing with the constant stress that your internal self is bad or improper, always self policing your behavior so people don't notice your gender non conformity or self isolating just so not as many people are perceiving you as your assigned gender you can often miss out on the exploration & developmental milestones in childhood/adolescence necessary to form a coherent stable identity.

As someone who was in a relationship with a BPDemon though do not assume they will change even if they are aware.

Everyone with BPD is different of course, but if your partner confabulates, if she splits, if she seems to follow a moral code that only benefits her (rules for thee not for me) or if they just generally don't take accountability run. It doesn't matter how good the good times are, it doesn't matter how good the sex is, it does not get better. You can't love someone out of this disorder, they most likely have to hit rock bottom for it to be clear to them that something needs to change.
