Ngl when I grew up in a semi small rural Catholic community transsexuality wasn’t just accepted but encouraged as a cure for homosexuality. When I came out my parents were totally cool with it, and even had my baptism certificate changed, and my mom started teaching me the role and duties of a woman, and everything went well. It was only when I started using the internet more that people started implying this wasn’t the norm, that apparently Catholics aren’t all trans accepting? It feels so weird to me, but did any other Catholics, trans or not, have this same experience?
>>
>>42774615
can't speak to this experience myself, but i've heard something similar about iran - transition is acceptable as an alternative to homosexuality. of course, it's still an islamic theocracy, so being trans is still going to cop you INSANE discrimination, but yeah idk, food for thought
>>
>>42774615
catholicism is the religion of love, and hating your body is not love-oriented
>>
>>42774615
I think it depends on where, I think american catholics tend to have a worse reputation online overall
a lot of catholic communities in other countries seem much more accepting and kind imho
>>
>>42774615
It's incredibly homophobic and transphobic to see it as a cure for gayness :(
And yeah in general religious guys don't like lgbtqia stuff
>>
>>42774636
aren’t you a straight man
>>
>>42774639
????
>>
>>42774646
? Someone told me you were a straight man and someone else told me you were a gay woman who thinks she’s a guy?
>>
>>42774634
Catholicism is overwhelmingly misrepresented on the internet by radical downright sedevacantist tradcath converts when in reality it's extremely syncretic and varied, perhaps even more so than the "decentralised" and "independent" protestants.
>>
>>42774651
oh yeh, that makes sense
protestants stay losing ngl
>>
lay cathos believe in all sorts of hokey shit, especially if you are out in the sticks and padre can't be fucked keeping up with the drama from the dioceses. the church is categorically and unequivocally anti-trans at the top so much so Francis even went so far as to deny intersex conditions. there is a minority faction of mainly euro bishops that are pro trans and are actively lobbying to have transgenderism accepted by the church but they are an absolute minority.
>>
>>42774650
I'm a bi cis man
>>
Ironically American online tradcath Catholicism is influenced heavily by protestant individualist righteousness whereas traditional Catholicism is heavy on humility
>>
>>42774654
its typically far-right american protestant to catho converts which is why american catholics have this reputation though not every americans catholic is like that. catholics were often discriminated against in protestant countries on a quasi racial ground similar to how muslims are treated so catholics have a pretty rich tradition in things like civil rights and the trade union movement, catholics in my country were overwhelmingly in favour of gay marriage being passes for instance even though the church was actively lobbying against it.
>>
>>42774654
im inclined to agree but that's from an atheist perspective. Catholics sin way more because theyre more lenient. The average italian catholic drinks and smokes all day and plows prostitutes whenever they're bored but pays it off by hitting himself with a scourge a few dozen times and asking the village priest for forgiveness
>>
>>42774615
I wish the catholics had trooned me out when I started cutting myself as a kid.
>>
I stealth in a Mormon church I don’t get why we aren’t accepted
>>
>>42774714
Yeah I don’t get it either. Transsexuality and Christianity fit so well it’s crazy that some Christians are against it
>>
>>42774656
>Francis even went so far as to deny intersex conditions
That isn't true. It wasn't the pope, it was the "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith" who existed for exactly long enough to be as stupid as possible in the most inconvenient ways.

They didn't deny intersex medical conditions, they don't even address them, because they got their understanding of transgenderism from UCLA feminists and fox news.

It's actually quite a long document that goes through a bunch of stuff, it's not just "trans is bad mkay", but the gist of the trans section is "God made exactly two genders, which are not social construct, but are in fact rooted in biology. Also SRS is mutilation of God perfect flesh, and a big nono, except when we're doing it to kids".
That last one btw really shows how little actual fucking thought they put into it.

Ironically, excepting where they get the facts just wrong (and also the genital correction on kids) most trans people would actually agree with the underlying more.
Gender is innate and biological in nature (it is a medical problem)
It is wrong to pretend to be the gender you are not (if you are trans you should accept your true gender)
We are created by God as we are (trans)

Which leads to the new, which you've just put on display, which is I'm the only person on earth who's actually fucking read it. Everyone else, including you, just read the lugenpresse headlines which said "Pope Francis says the church is transphobic now."

Which puts me in the position of being "forgiven" for breaking church doctrine, when I haven't actually done that. The church doesn't know enough about trans to actually be transphobic.

They just think UCLA feminists are wrong about everything, which I think we can all agree on.
>>
>>42774747
nice try, i was referring to an apostolic exhortation, Amoris Laetitia, though
>>
>>42774811
That's an entire book sweety, you'll have to be more specific. The lugenpresse headline is Pope Francis says divorce is okay now, which I very much doubt it actually says.
>>
>>42774811
It's paragraph 56, and it's just another case of strawman down.
He's arguing against gender theory (Feminism) not transgenderism (the biological reality of being trans).
>>
>>42774826
im not particularly interested in teaching american protestants how to understand the magisterium. your trad larp religion has nothing to do with it, it was the jews or something.
>>
>>42774857
I'm neither american nor protestant.
And you can't teach what you don't know.
>>
>>42774863
right, your a middleaged schizophrenic australian nazi transvestite and you definitely went to sunday school and didn't become a catholic because you goon to nick fuentes
>>
>>42774881
Wow that's a lot of mad.
I can't even tell what you're upset about.
>>
>>42774885
emily dont you have jug of petrol you need to be huffing instead of pretending to be catholic on the internet
>>
>>42774889
No but seriously, why so mad?
>>
>>42774902
i still have a degree of sympathy for the church and don't appreciate mentally deranged far-right maniacs adopting it as a costume
>>
>>42774911
Okay. That's weird, but whatever.
Imma keep following Jesus, you don't really impact that.
>>
>>42774615
Leviticus 20:13
>>
>>42775549
Matthew 15:8
>>
>>42775549
You follow all the other Old Covenant rules too, right? Leviticus bans a lot of common modern things that aren't homosexuality too. Leviticus 11 is just rules for what food is Kosher and what food is not.
>>
>>42774615
You should join estrodioces desu, idrk many other catholic mtfs aside from them
>>
wow almost like transgenderism was a psyop to get gays to castrate themselves from the very start
>>
>>42776765
As opposed to letting men get pregnant and birthing kids?

But in all seriousness being lgbt is very natural and the Jews played no role in it no matter how they try to convince us
>>
>>42776790
Jews made everything illegal in the first place. Christians are downstream of Jews.
>>
Wow I thought I started a good bait thread but you really outdid me OP, I kneel
>>
>>42774615
I was born into Roman Catholicism and my family is on the accepting side, albeit not entirely enthusiastic, when it comes to me and my cis gay brother. They absolutely would’ve preferred if I was just gay, and stated such when I came out.
>>
>>42777237
>and stated such
what is a shit test
they know you wont defend being gay cuz ur an ego dystonic homo
doesn't mean they ACTUALLY are ok with you being gay
>>
Culturally Catholics are like Muslims, in that they're pro-trans as a solution to the problem of homosexuality. It's just that they're not into saying it, or being politically supportive about it. It's something families handle quietly and never talk about. In no sense is this practice pro-trans or pro-LGBT in the way we mean that in modern society.
>>
>>42777331
maybe in fact everyone is pro-trans and views it as a solution to the problem of homosexuality
>>
>>42777283
I know they’d prefer I be straight overall, but I came out as gay first, years earlier, so I had the pleasure of experiencing both reactions. The trans one was definitely worse. Personally, I also would strongly prefer if I was just gay, but life is funny sometimes.
>>
>>42774615
Trans people used to be accepted by the church and could even be nuns/monks of their transitioned sex but that changed in the 1000s as a reaction to judaism ig because of some reason i forget
>>
>>42774632
>i was born without arms everyday is a struggle i wish i just couldve been born normally
>OH BOOHO NIGGER WANH WANH WANH
>>
>>42774651
>>42774678
I think you need to actually hang out in a few Jesus threads instead of pretending like you've got the first fucking clue how Catholics on the internet behave.

Because your who judgy thing aint it sibling.
