I wonder, has a tranny ever become enlightened? Or is it fundamentally impossible?

Some have gone from monks to being ladyboys.

Trannies are tied to the material world through their obsession with their physical body. They will never transcend the physical realm.

it seems like being transgender would be completely incompatible with hardcore truth seeking. considering their obsession with identity and their body, doesn’t it seem impossible for a tranner to ever realize the nature of reality? being caught up in delusion and attachment is the default state for everyone but they take it to another level. if they were to be a truth seeker, their notions of being born in the wrong body and what not would one of the first things to go

What exactly is "attachment to the material world"? How does it relate to food?
>>
>>42793005
I don’t know what made you think of food but I saw a quote from a monk that said his final tether to the world is food, and that when he stops eating, you know that he has completely let go

This is directly contradictory to the Buddhist middle way

An enlightened Buddhist *can* let go of anything that would relieve suffering, and an enlightened trans Buddhist can live without transition. That doesn't mean they *have* to.

In fact as a layperson it can easily backfire and draw you further away from good practice toward enlightenment if you intentionally allow pain to be inflicted on you by refusing to relieve gender dysphoria. The pain can quite easily sabotage your development and draw you further into negative karma

gender dysphoria is not a pressing issue that needs to be alleviated in the same way that sexual urges are not. you can simply stop busting nuts and be fine, in fact it is strictly forbidden to for a monastic to engaged in any kind of sexual activity. I don’t think ignoring either of those things qualifies as extreme asceticism, which is what the middle path seeks to avoid.
layperson life is a very different thing, they don’t have anywhere near the amount of rules to follow as a monastic, and it is exceedingly rare for one to become enlightened. it’s said that if a layperson were to become enlightened, they would immediately ordain because that’s the only move that makes sense.

The middle way was between severe ascetism / mortification of the flesh vs. hedonism, not between monkhood and hedonism.
The mortification of the flesh side meant not being psychotic and going without food for months at a time while sitting naked in the elements and doing nothing but search for the truth nature of reality.
The middle between that and hedonism is being a monk, not being someone who dresses up and parties and lives a consumer lifestyle.
At best someone like the latter was meant to maybe die and get reborn as a monk in his next life.

i sometimes feel like i'm the only person on the planet who can see objective reality. people are so deluded and dont even realize how much of the way they see the world is just hardwired in by evolution and never even consider that their default assumptions could be wrong. i don't think there's really such a thing as a contiguous 'self'. like, why should i care more about myself 5 seconds in the future than i care about another person? they're both just as separate. and people believe in justice, like they literally think you have to hurt people who have hurt others to balance some invisible scales of the universe and don't even think twice?? people literally believe things out of convenience, i don't even understand that. they can literally just say "yeah i like that, i believe that" and they believe it. what the fuck?? what are these people smoking???? they literally think taking hormones to feel better about your own body is not only a bad life choice, but MORALLY WRONG, and they don't have one single modicum of interest in peeling back the layers of their beliefs.
