regarding the 3d printing: it's a lot easier these days than it used to be. a BambuLab P1S is an affordable machine yet so much easier and comfortable to use successfully than anything you could buy 10 years ago.
but I honestly doubt you can make a living off that. so many people selling 3d trinkets on etsy these days. Maybe once in a while you can bolster up your income (from other sources) by putting up a table at a fleamarket and selling some printed stuff there (ideally not the same flexi dragon decorations you see everywhere, but something that'll appear novel or even useful to people. of your own design or just downloaded off a website. selling it only IRL also has the benefit that nobodys ever gonna attempt go after you for using models commercially without permission).
assuming you're in the US, one thing you could do is if you hear there's a gun buyback coming up, printing out like a dozen basic functional single shot pistols (you'll find plenty of info on /k/) and handing them in for a bunch of gift cards /cash. depending on how much they pay per piece, could recoup the cost for the printer and then some. absolutely check your local laws before you do that, and that the buyback doesn't exclude prints. maybe don't do it more than once.
3d printing gets really good when you can make your own models (or modify existing ones) in CAD software. FreeCAD is free (duh), and while still a lil finicky, the concepts of modeling in CAD are honestly piss easy once you understand how to handle the software.
it's always advisable to market to furries and to be one yourself to enjoy it (both as motivation and because that genuine passion often shines through the art). if you can draw kinda decently and especially if you are willing to work with some of the more out-there fetishes, there's money to be made.
tho these days there is the competition from AI a lot of people don't want to support that and prefer stuff made by a real artist.
