How are you gendering those memories?

Because memories are tricky for trans women. I now recognize myself as a girl, so when I go back through my memories I'm now recognizing myself as a girl in those memories, which sometimes changes their meaning to me quite considerably, but also some of those memories were things related to gender and male socialization where in order for the memory to make sense I have to be a boy.

So you can see how that can be pretty stressful. You can see how that's triggering dysphoria.
And so opting out of that conversation is probably just avoiding pain. Is it that big of a deal to you?

And again I want to point out that her personality is like a year old and still forming, she HAS to be defensive of that. That is priority #1 for her.

You can create a false persona.
And when you're a repressed trans woman that's what you do, you create a false male persona as a socially acceptable mask that you can wear to avoid punishment for gender non-comformity.

The problem with doing this is that as you get older the mask gets more complex, and that it more difficult to maintain. This causes intense stress, which is part of gender dysphoria. Every time she was around you she had to have that mask on and that was hurting her.
