Nonbinary people have been around for much longer than I have been out in the trans community IRL, which is 22 years. They are just part of the trans community and that used to be widely understood by all except a few of us, those who are basically in the sunken place. There is a lot that has been crazy about watching public and intra-community attitudes shift around trans stuff, but the retcon of history that enbies appeared in like 2015, and pronouns like ze/sie etc showed up after they/them became a publicly known nonbinary pronoun, have been some of the craziest. Truly being asked to deny the evidence of my eyes and ears.I have plenty of nonbinary friends + acquaintances but desu I only think about it when I'm here, or when I'm in a social group that is specifically about trans shit (LGBT parents' groups, etc).
