With my man voice I rarely get stares and sir/ma'am is 50/50. Over the phone is always sir. I don't bother correcting them. My theory is that effort proves you are trans. If you aren't fully passing it's better to put in 0 effort eg hair tied back and andro clothes. That way you get read as either male or female but not trans which is when the hate starts.
