So, i study law and with every lesson i kinda learn that politics "don't matter."Your elected leaders pursue personal agenda or just opportunism and you have virtually 0 say in anything. All good changes happen by accident.The reason you can get gay married in the US, for example is not because people voted for it to be the case, but because a chill enough guy happened to be the judge who was assigned to deliberate on whether or not the constitution says anything about gay marriage.THE ONLY REASON thats a thing, is because 3/5 judges said "yeah why not.". Not because your elected leaders acted in accordance with their politics, or because of a protest. It's because a cryptofaggot and a woman were feeling legislatively generous one day.Thats LITERALLY the ONLY reason.Its a fucking coin toss. Same way Roe v Wade was made into law at first, and then rebuked.The only real political leverage an ordinary democratic citizen has is mailing nailbombs to politicians.Like that's what a PHD law professor told me.So, the only reason political movements exist is so you can self-select for people you agree with and hang out.
