I took a 101 level class my freshman year of undergrad that went over the Symposium and a couple other foundational Greek texts. I had a good professor which helped, but the thing that got me was how much it was about fairly literal issues related to individual experience and society. I wasn’t a philosophy major and only took a few more classes in the department, but I ended up reading a fair amount more on my own just out of curiosity.
