Protein folding is basically solved as of fairly recently and we're just starting to be able to explore what's possible. I think we would all be surprised by what will be possible 30 years from now

There are endless failure and friction points in every prosthetic and augmentation we've supplied for people who need them. We're so sensitive and reluctant to advance medical science, and people have reasonable fears that genuine medical augmentation/transformation is impossible to provide without putting most people at a severe disadvantage in comparison. It seems a lot more like with the right production and funding we could reliably go the biopunk route, as long as people don't behave like retarded batman wannabes like they have lately
