Traditional sexism is basically bog standard misogyny. Men good women bad yadda yadda. Oppositional sexism is the idea that men and women must be confined to strict and discrete presentations, behaviors, roles, etc,. Basically, the idea that boys aren't allowed to be feminine and that girls aren't allowed to be masculine is oppositional sexism. Transmisogyny is specifically when these two ideas overlap or combine as a form of prejudice or oppression against trans women and is the unique way that trans women are discriminated against that's distinct from just bog standard misogyny or transphobia.

>>43119737I like your concept of oppositional sexism, even though the intersectional framework never sat right with me because it implies that transmisogyny is basically downstream of misogyny and transphobia, and further that there may then be genericized bodies that experience each. History has shown us that in any case of identity oppression, liberation movements tend to be dominated by those with the means enabled along other axes ultimately resulting in the richest and most powerful persons being treated as success cases. Rather I think that transmisogyny begins with hatred and discrimination towards trans women, that may be covert, but nevertheless always as a primary form of sexism.
If you aren't misogynistic towards your trans friends how are they supposed to know they're valid?
