Honestly the main reason dating apps feel better than chatting up people on discord is you can see what they look like before you start flirting with them. Several times I've been talking to a transbian on discord and she unprompted drops a pic just to show me what she looks like. I don't want to hurt people's feelings so what I do when I am not attracted to them is act like the biggest ogre hon of all time getting mogged and act like her appearance hurt my feelings and tell her she is out of my league. I'm still rejecting them the exact same but they get a self esteem boost from it at least.
