Their fate is tied up with ours, as evidenced by other people connecting them with us. Society decides who's in the bucket, not the minority. And binary dysphoric trans people have ALWAYS been in coalition with enbies (dysphoric or not), crossdressers, butches and drag queens, etc. That's a survival technique, not a hindrance. It means that when cis people, in bad faith, focus on and amplify the gender minorities that they find the most ridiculous or embarrassing, lying about our history and hinting that they would accept some of us if we yield to them and agree with their framing, we don't weaken ourselves again and again by doing it.(1/2)

I used to do a lot of trans activist work IRL (campaigning for trans rights legislation, working at support groups and community centers, hotline work, educating school staff, etc). Many of the people I would credit with what legal rights and resources were gained, you would most certainly would not consider to be "real" trans people. Ditto the creation of health clinics and scientific research. Stuff that is relevant to you, to be clear, not only to nonbinary people or those without dysphoria. Gender fuckery and embarrassing weirdos all throughout. That kind of work in fact tended to sort for people who did not identify as, eh, let's say sufferers of Harry Benjamin Syndrome (rather than primarily as trans men and women). those people went deep stealth, as was supposed to be the goal, and fucked off.Anyway----I am very much in support of binary, dysphoric trans people helping each other and advocating for each other. It can even help you feel better yourself, about the reality we're in. Being politically active, volunteering at a hotline or a support space or something like that (even just asking an organization you like if they need volunteers), you can directly make a huge difference for someone else who is dysphoric. You don't have to, even if you can (this is not a "put up or shut up, stop complaining" kind of suggestion) but if you can, I encourage everyone to do that. it also helps you see the kind of coalition I am talking about.
