Protesting transphobic speakers will result in a £500k fine for UK universities Anyone else think this is insane?
>>43309690do britbongs enjoy being constantly fucked by their government
>>43309732All the uk govt does is hate trans people, that's ithttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/university-free-speech-complaints-labour-b2960707.html
>UK universities are facing a severe financial crisis driven by frozen tuition fees, declining international student numbers, and rising operational costs. Since 2012, domestic tuition fees have been largely frozen at £9,250 (rising to £9,535 in 2025), while inflation and expenses have surged, causing institutions to lose an estimated £2,500 per domestic student annually.

Financial pressures have led to widespread cuts and restructuring.>72% of English universities are projected to run deficits by 2025–26, with some having only enough cash to cover one month of expenses. >Over 10,000 jobs are at risk, with more than 80 universities implementing or planning staff reductions, course closures, or department mergers. Institutions are cutting research investment, maintenance, and student support, with 49% having closed courses and 19% reducing research funding. >Dependence on international students has increased vulnerability. These students pay significantly higher fees (up to £38,000), but recent visa restrictions—especially on dependents—have contributed to a 21% drop in recruitment, costing the sector nearly £5 billion in lost revenue. Post-1992 universities, which rely more heavily on tuition income, are particularly at risk. The crisis threatens regional economies, especially in the North East and Wales, where universities contribute up to 6% of local economic output.
So UK universities are facing a serious crisis, lets hear what the Education Secretary is doing about it
>>43309834>A new system designed to safeguard free speech at universities across England is set to be introduced, the government has announced.>The Office for Students (OfS) will oversee this "first-of-its-kind" scheme, launching from the upcoming academic year. It will allow university staff, external speakers, and non-student members to report concerns regarding providers in England, according to the Department for Education (DfE).>The higher education regulator will investigate these complaints, with powers to recommend that universities review decisions, offer compensation, or enhance their existing processes.
>>43309877>From next April, new registration conditions will enable the OfS to fine universities for breaches of their Freedom of Speech Act duties. Penalties could reach £500,000 or 2 per cent of income, and severe cases may result in deregistration, risking public funding loss.>The OfS said it has received reports of speakers and lecturers being “harassed and blocked” because of gender-critical or religious views, concerns about foreign interference restricting academic freedom, and job adverts requiring specific ideological beliefs.>The Free Speech Union (FSU) said nearly one in 10 of the 5,700-plus cases it has fought over the past six years involved universities “failing to protect free speech”.
>>43309886>Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said: “Freedom of speech is the foundation of every university’s success, enabling them to foster robust debate and exchange challenging ideas respectfully.>The implementation of legislation, passed under the previous Conservative government in 2023, was paused by Labour in July 2024 after the general election due to concerns it could be “burdensome” for universities.>In January last year, Ms Phillipson announced the Government would be pushing ahead with key measures in the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act.
>>43309898>Platforming transphobic speakers at universities normalizes hate speech, which directly correlates with a 50% increase in anxiety and depression and double the likelihood of self-harm among trans students who experience discrimination. At Oxford University, 98% of trans students have reported mental health issues, with nearly two-thirds citing discrimination as a primary cause, creating a cycle where academic success becomes impossible due to the emotional strain of navigating a hostile environment. >Institutional silence on such events signals that transphobia is acceptable, leading to erasure and exclusion where students are frequently misgendered and denied access to gender-neutral facilities. >This environment forces trans academics and students to self-censor their research or identity to avoid harassment, with some researchers warning that they are being "pushed out of academia" entirely due to the fear of being outed or facing safety threats in gendered spaces.
It is a very good measure.Censorship by trannies is just as bad as censorship by christcucks. Freedom of speech must prevail over anyone's feelings, all the time and with no exceptions. It's far more essential for a transphobe to be able to speak than to protect trannies' feelings. You are insane. The measure is very sensible.
>>43309909Legal and social consequences include:>Increased harassment: Trans individuals face physical and verbal abuse, including threats of violence, when gender-critical or transphobic views are given a platform. >Academic suppression: Academics risk being labeled "transphobic" and silenced if they discuss gender identity critically, while trans students face intimidation when protesting these views. >Hostile work/study environments: The presence of such speakers creates an atmosphere where trans people feel unsafe using basic facilities or participating in campus life, undermining the university's duty of care.
>>43309909>Platforming transphobic speakers at universities normalizes hate speech"Hate speech" doesn't exist. It's a far left fiction that normal humans have no obligation whatsoever to subscribe to.It is and always should be normal to disagree, even virulently and with foul language, with anyone else. Be it niggers, christcucks, troons, faggots, cuckservatives, gigacommies or feminists. They all need to toughen up and relearn to exist in reality, where not everyone agrees with them.
we'll return to barbarism eventually, will the trannies fight or submit to internment or worse1% but not the violent kind of 1% sux2btranny
>>43309942>we'll return to barbarism eventuallySome parts of the UK are already there. Entire regions are lawless. The fact is they already torture trans people in prison and in society, its just scattergun now, rather than orderly. At that point you have to flee, the police have no problem following orders https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=29YdExl-vQY
>>43309935Shut up retard, the UK literally uses hate speech laws to protect transphobes
>>43309690wow I'm so glad the British government is ensuring gender critical people the right to free speechAm I finally allowed to criticise their immigration policies now?
>>43309985>Am I finally allowed to criticise their immigration policies now?Not unless you want a visit prison
>>43309985They'll put you in here, i hope you like hellhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hjb-eLUxT94&t

>>43309732>>43310027
>>43309981Finally one good use of those retarded laws.
>>43309690so what genocide step does this one fit into
>>43310823I think almost of all them are ticked off by the UK, they just want to outdo America
>>43309915>>43309935>we are going to protect free speech, by banning democracy and free speech at our universities
>>43310883The UK bans protests then literally says they're defending free speech
Reminder that that law and section of OfS was platformed on a campaign of transphobia, it was designed for terfs from the ground up. It was created and lobbied by “the free speech union” who is affiliated with peter thiel, jordan peterson and toby young among others, and the FSU head of PR (arif ahmed, one of thiel’s “evangelical academics against critical race theory”) was immediately placed as the head of the office for students “free speech department”. The FSU teamed up with miriam cates as one of the main drivers to initially push the law to other MPs, advertising it as a way to solidify transphobia in universities and control them without oversight or accountability - an easy win for the tory and labour mandate of transphobia.
The FSU have been involved with defending lineham, a few terfs, and several racism cases, and work frequently with right wing media to front-page certain narratives over “free speech”. Their current popular target is defending transphobia because it’s a successful topic on terf island, but they work a lot to defend racists and other bigots too. They’re well connected as part of a larger far right push into various institutions. Arif’s first act was fining sussex uni for having a trans inclusion policy that said you shouldn’t discriminate based on gender reassignment, that you shouldn’t promote transphobia in the curriculum, and that you shouldn’t harass trans people for being trans. He called it “chilling” that staff are encouraged to use a person’s name and not bully students. The FSU worked with kathleen stock on it even before the OfS department existed, it was set up from the start as a big “shock” test case to intimidate other institutions and push their mandate as quickly as possible. There was no “investigation” or contact with the uni, just an “interview” with stock on why she left of her own accord. Other terfs (like sullivan who wrote the quack data/stats report) over at “sex matters” have jumped on the chance and already contacted OfS with complaints over being “cancelled”, crying about not being free to harass students or that they were allowed to protest aka “free speech”. With Arif being aligned explicitly with terfs, and the sussex case quickly pushed through with zero investigation, it’s pretty obvious how those are gonna turn out. Universities are set to become a much more hostile place for trans people. The whole thing is a fucking joke. The government gave the power to control universities - to dictate policy and hand out fines on a whim - to a co-ordinated network of right wing nutjobs with no oversight or accountability.
>>43310943Free speech is not far right. YOU are far left though.Offending the sensibilities of troons, niggers, islamists, foids, terfs or really anyone is a fundamental human right. What's extremist is you thinking that you get to dictate what others are permitted to say.>you shouldn’t promote transphobia in the curriculumThis is extremist policy, sir. Precisely because "transphobia" is defined as anything a troon finds offensive. Fuck that. Offending anyone should be part of the curriculum all the time, in fact. Welcome to adulthood.> He called it “chilling” that staff are encouraged to use a person’s nameIt is chilling, sir. Compelled speech is dystopian nonsense and has no place in a free society, sir.
>>43311388free speech doesnt existits an illusion useful for control in and of itself
come to brazil gringxsyou can protest without having to pay 500k royal coins here
>>43311465how is life as a tranny in the big brazil
>>43311395Oh it absolutely does exist. Just because you live in an uncivilized shithole that doesn't mean superiour places don't exist. All the places that explicitly allow insulting your feelings and protect those who insult you are places that have freedom of speech. But it's a good thing you don't know that. We wouldn't want superiour places polluted with your extremist anticivilizational views.
>>43311388all I hear is "WAH WAH WAH I WANT TO BE AN ASSHOLE WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES"that's not free speech buddy, that's just being a childish bullyfree speech is the ability to challenge the state without being thrown in jail

>>43311545>free speech is the ability to challenge the state without being thrown in jailCivilized societies with functional people have that in fact. Of course, britbongistan doesn't have it because it's not a civilized society, but a third world shithole. And brits are goycattle and agree that they're too subhuman to be permitted to challenge the State anyway.>all I hear isThat's because you are retarded, sir. It's quite unfortunate that you are british, but it's not the fault of everyone else.
>>43311579red states are fine if you manmode or live in the inevitably liberal capitol of the state
>>43311388>It's "compelled speech" when my boss tells me I'm not allowed to shout "get out, faggot" when I see the gay trannies walk into my lecture

>>43311584Funny how Brits bang on about free speech, but dont actually know what it is
>>43312105But thats literally the govt argument :(
>>43309915>censorship by tranniesmostly student protests>censorship by christcucks literally the state itself
>>43309739The UK has strict anti-porn laws and they also banned sanctioned suicide. So no, they're making it a hellhole for everyone and not even letting people leave this world when they want to.
>>43309690Deplatforming isn't protesting
>>43309823
>>43310883It literally protects free speech numbskull, OP lied.
>>43313553What's wrong with that exactly
>>43313632How am I supposed to get enough money to pay for my hobbies if I can't get money from posting facesitting incest porn online? Sure I can make money from my hobbies once I have some startup capital but I don't know how to get a real job yet so I'm kinda screwed.
>>43313553The anti porn laws ban transgender escort websites, they want more dead escorts. Supported by all transphobesThe assisted dying laws are supported by... all transphobesBrexit was handled by Boris Johnson who deeply hated trans people.Im beginning to see a pattern here. Brits were very happy having these anti trans polticians make our lives a living hell, but suddenly now its a problem when it affects them
>>43313841>The assisted dying laws are supported by... all transphobesI was talking about the website https://sanctioned-suicide.net/ when I said sanctioned suicide
>>43313864Wait wtf, i used to love that website. Thats how i learnt to tie a noose. Fucking hell. Taking away that resource will lead to more deaths
>>43313896>Taking away that resource will lead to more deathsI think it'll lead to fewer deaths, but more horrible outcomes where people horribly injure themselves in such a way that death would have been better because of how screwed up their life now is.
Just go to transphobic events and tell the security there's a man in the woman's bathroom. Do it repeatedly.
>>43313986It will definitely lead to more horrible outcomes, but more deaths. When i was at my absolute lowest point i could go there and read genuine shit. Ive been in the mental health system almost 3 decades they are shit. Shit. Liars. They dont help.Reading about other people in my situation helped. It helped me not end my life. Taking that away will make people feel isolated.
