What are some good corsets that aren't crazy expensive?

Amazon has some decent ones. They're not real corsets, but they keep your waist constrained. Also, here's a tip: Wear some sort of undergarment below the corset, such as a chemise or even a tank top or plain t-shirt. It will absorb the sweat and you'll be able to go longer before washing it. This will cause your corset to last longer.

The size is the waist circumference when the corset is completely closed (the back panel and the front panel are closed). It isn't a problem to have the back panel open 4 inches, so get at least 4 inches below your waist circumference.
Ex: a waist of 34 inches should choose a size 30 at most.

Now the tricky part- we all have a different amount of squish. Muscles squish less than fat. Fat squishes a good bit and people have different amount of squish to their rib cage too. So I have a 34" waist, but I squish a lot. I bought a 28 and was able to close it within a month of regular use. 26 is what works best for me, but that's me.

The length of the front busk (the long flat metal pieces that give rigidity to the front closure) matters as you want to be able to sit down comfortably without bending the bottom of the corset. So you want to make sure the length of the busk is not longer than your measurement between the bottom of your breastbone to where your belly and thighs meet when you sit. If it is longer, it'll bend the corset and dig into your chest or thighs.

This goes over the sizing stuff for that. And their stuff holds up to waist training well (not the mesh ones though) and isn't too expensive for a corset.

You want to buy an underbust corset with steel bones and an hourglass-ish shape. Not a waspie or one that covers the chest as the pressure isn't distributed right for beginner waist training.

She's a good resource for knowledge.

This is about breaking in your corset. They are like shoes. And you want to do it correctly so it doesn't warp or cause pressure points.
