So I've been on hrt for about half a year only, and I've never believed in any of the psychological effects, nor felt any of them.
Despite that, only a couple of days ago, it's like I had a sudden switch be flipped, and I can't help but feel way more engaged in my own life. First and most importantly, I believe I'm able to actually *feel* emotions again, and them having much more depth. I'm still doubting whether that's what's actually happening or whether I've suddenly become manic though.
How can I know for sure whether I'm actually feeling emotions again?

Also, wouldn't such a visceral and sudden psychological change be proof that being trans really is a neurological condition?

placebo

Retards will claim hormones have no effect on the brain while also claiming you can never understand how the opposite sex thinks

No, there are immediate and long term changes with estrogen.

Estrogen modulates visual processing, this is well reported but basically imagine your vision going from a TN to OLED monitor. My ability to differentiate colors vastly improved, I got 100% on the color differentiation tests after taking estrogen which is impossible for cis men.
MTF also report odor changes, your ability to detect odors increase and especially the smell of men will be more extreme.

Long term there are neurological differences, for instance your brain develops to get horny on estrogen instead of testosterone but this takes years.

> I got 100% on the color differentiation tests after taking estrogen which is impossible for cis men.
Was it a clinical test or an online one? I got 100% on the online ones before HRT
>>
>>43324360
It was online one. They may be affected by the monitor you are using, or you just naturally had good color perception pre transition.
>>
>>43324290
kind of a foolish argument, a lot of ppl make similar arguments, all to say that a brain does exist during interactions (everything is 'neurological')
the other error is fixating on the truth of 'emotion' when that like other mental states is evaluative, so never absent, nor more real or less real
emotions are also tied to other things which can be downstream of both hrt and other lifestyle changes, ppl joke about cortisol spikes these days, well ... what do u think that means?
it may be shocking but most ppl have brains that function as one might expect for a human brain

expected testosterone to make me more stoike or whatever and it made me cry from thinking how pretty my oshii is and get a cripping urge to use arch linux
>>

>My ability to differentiate colors vastly improved
placebo, colors are detected via cones in the eye
>I got 100% on the color differentiation tests after taking estrogen which is impossible for cis men.
Incorrect, men have been the world’s greatest artists
>MTF also report odor changes, your ability to detect odors increase and especially the smell of men will be more extreme.
placebo, i always had an incredible sense of smell.

>Long term there are neurological differences, for instance your brain develops to get horny on estrogen instead of testosterone but this takes years.
True, but the changes are not expressed in the way you pretend nor are they particularly dramatic
>>
>>43324492
>placebo, colors are detected via cones in the eye
The cones are hormonally sensitive. I noticed that shades of blue especially became more vivid so I looked it up and apparently there is scientific backing for it. Menopausal women notice changes too
>>
>>43324492
colors are not detected via cones in the eye tho, perception is a cognitive capacity, the eye detects photons as light
it's a whole thing, common introductory class trick question tbqh
>>
>>43324290
If you spend your entire life disassociating, you aren't going to notice a difference if you keep doing that.
>>
>>43324290
I've had life long emotional problems and I remember that when I let go of the whole "delusional male" insecurity for a while, I began to feel those psychological effects that I never noticed before. I also could look in the mirror and smile for once. That shit was wild
>>
>>43324637
keep doing what?
>>
Ive been on and off hrt for extended periods and had no psychological or sexuality changes at all either way but I think its nice that people are able to mature as people even if it is placebo.
>>
>>43324738
Had the same thing happen to me, and I'm still in disbelief that it can actually happen
>>
estrogen RUINED my brain
>>
>>43325472
I'm sorry to hear that nona. In what ways did it ruin your brain?
>>
estrogen made me gay
>>
>>43324290
>How can I know for sure whether I'm actually feeling emotions again?
are you crying? If you have unprocessed trauma from growing up, hrt will help you cry it out
>Also, wouldn't such a visceral and sudden psychological change be proof that being trans really is a neurological condition?
no but also yes
estrogen will make you more emotional regardless of whether your brain is wired in a masculine or feminine manner
but we do have around 100 studies showing that trans people's brains are wired more in line with the common standard of their experienced gender than their birth sex. Such studies test everything from pheromone reactions to visual imagery, and on trans and cis people of ages as young as 10, pre and post hrt
the consensus is tranners have a terminal case of girl brain (or boy brain for ftms)

>Incorrect, men have been the world’s greatest artists
there is no known case of men having tetrachromatic color differentiation, but some trans women do experience it after starting hrt
strangely though when I took a color test I discovered I'm tetrachromatic, but I don't perceive color any differently than before hrt
>>
>>43326216
bullshit
>>
>>43326216
Unless you’re xx this doesnt happen (you could be chimera) but this isn’t hrt and not something most trans women would actually experience even if some twitterfags give personal anecdotes.

Online tests dont prove a whole lot if ur monitor compensates
>>
>>43325909
it made me non functional
>>
>>43324290
strangely treating the condition that caused you to repress emotions can allow you to regain them.
it's nothing to do with the estrogen in itself but from improving your situation.

>>43324350
bullshit.
if you had similar emotional issues as OP then yes you could have experienced visual improvements as those can change the emotional response to vision, and again after treating the base issue the response can improve.

but hrt isn't magic.
>>
>>43326735
I suspect I have Klinefelter's (I experienced most of the symptoms growing up) so that might do it. Chapelle's is also possible but I think I'm too tall for it
>>
>>43324290
I am more social, less aggressive, way more avoidant of conflicts, also more tolerant, since I trooned imo. It has changed me maybe by only about 10% mentally.
>>
>>43324350
those color tests are BS I got 100% before I even took hrt.
>>
wow yeah if only you were intersex then you would be valid and people wouldnt hate you no more
>>
>>43330543
that's because you're a woman
>>
Oh I also got really gay, like I was a bit gay before, but I am very gay now.
>>
wow i also got 15 periods and grew a womb and got super powers can have laser eyes
>>
>>43330571
Im a gay MAN though
>>
>some B is A

conclusion all B is not A
