anybody else really like religion and participating and identify with it but feel shut out from any religious community? I practice taoism because it doesn't have any particularly anti trans doctrine and accumulate all sorts of mystical information. There aren't many people I can form a community around to share beliefs or anything though. What do you all do for spirituality, if anything at all? I kinda just want to start a cult but I don't make friends very easily.
i think catholicism is pretty kewl but i don't buy it that i'm not doomed to hell for being a troon.
>>43337784genuinely interested in theology because I grew up religious but I'm also bisexual so uhhhh....I got lucky because I've found tons of folks who are queer but also genuinely interested in philosophy/theology too so instead of talking about dicks, we talk about Wittgenstein or Satre or even St. Augustine or Aquinas
>>43337784I keep to myself and create my own spirituality because other people talk too much and inevitably end up creating hierarchies out of everything that they do.
>>43337784I like religion, mainly catholicism, I believe it has a strong foundation on its spiritual practices, I believe even trannies and gays can be saved. I dont believe it to be inherently sinful.Even if the church says otherwise. the church is always evolving, I dont belive following protestant ideas to separate instead I believe changing it from the inside.
im a catholic transbian twinkhoni dont think im any more of a sinner than anyone else is, and Christ forgave people who were much worse than we are.
I like Buddhism, but I don't really believe it. I just like to study it. I wish it were true. Nirvana/nibbana is the most compelling conception of the ultimate reality that I've come across.
>>43337808sometimes i daydream of rending my back red with a scourge and asking god for forgiveness flaggelant style. but that's too dignified.
i'm studying the old testament. just got to 1 chronicles. my family wasn't religious growing up, but i did watch anti-christian atheist youtube back in the day. it's interesting to see their side of the story since all i knew about christianity was mostly filtered through anti-christian polemics.i am pretty excited to get to the new testament, i think that section is probably better written. i mean the history section of the bible is really repetitive and nothing much happens.
>>43337784I go to a UU church. It's pretty nice. Personally, I'm a succubus worshiper, but that's not common.
>>43337784im a schizo pagan. dont really talk about my beliefs to those around me. spirituality is to me a private matter. community would be full of disgusting people who distract my personal relationships with the gods of the world.
religion is one of the most disastrous blights that humanity will forever endure. Queers practicing abrahamic religions always made me hysterically laugh. How do you willingly practice something that will damn you to eternal torment? How do you pick and choose what beliefs to follow from this religion and genuinely think your faith still holds merit? You dont just say “well I’ll practice gayness but I still love Christian ethics!” Because you’re not practicing Christian ethics at that point, you discarded it and employed what suits you best.
>>43338297This argument lacks nuance. Even two Christians sitting next to each other in church will have slightly different inner faiths because their interpretations of doctrine will be colored by their experiences. So by so strict a definition, no one can perfectly believe anything, at least not the way you believe that belief should look.
>>43338406Correct, this is why theism is utterly retarded. The preachers have tried too hard to push philosophy into their belief system, your response is just the product of that.>So by so strict a definition, no one can perfectly believe anythingNot true, if theism was presented in a geometric manner, there would be no room for interpretation. There is no room for theism for a man who seeks knowledge.
>>43338504How many things can be presented in a geometric manner?
>>43338553god is cube
>>43338585timecube, to be precise
faith is deathyou can do better
I have religious loved ones and they seem to only be frustrated by religious communities. It's like religious communities are as bad as star wars autistics. If you ask about a new interpretation they only want to tell you you're wrong and ruining things for everyone.
