>>43354797i want to like villenueve, but i haven't enjoyed any of his movies since "prisoners". 2049 could have been so fantastic, but it's overthematized and literary. the foreshadowing in the dialogue is painfully forced, in a way that reminds me of bresson (and i don't like it). watching 2049 makes me want to watch the welles/perkins "the trial" or simply read kafka. because ryan gosling's (villenueve's) k is still self-centered after everything, in a way that welles' and kafka's k is not. villenueve does not laugh with kafka, he only weeps for him. which is why kafka wanted all his writing burned
