I find that even though I pass well people can tell in the psych ward.

Discuss.

Was in and out regularly in middle school, and had a few times back in high school.
I miss that they took better care of me than my family but didn't like being watched 24/7
There are such varying qualities of psych wards they're hard to compare.

weird, I passed better in my city's psych ward, one of the women said it wasn't fair a moid looked like how I do. It was validating, but I couldn't make use of it because I'm too retarded to stealth.

every psych ward experience ive ever had is a core memory and i look back on all of them with fondness but good lord i dont ever wanna go back
the best (worst) part is being walked in on while taking a shower by a creep staff member multiple times during your stay despite always yelling that im in there and even going so far as to let them know if i knock thats a signal im in there and they disregard it and pretend you never said anything and just keep doing it anyways

once i was in the hospital and a man came in my room while my boobs were out, said sorry and walked out, then knocked and came in again (my boobs were still out) and talked to me
i guess knocking makes it okay to look at my boobs?

sorry that happened to u nona
yeah i didnt trust any of the male staff there lol save for some older guy who fought to get me a safe place to stay after but he was a therapist and would only stay there for a few hrs so idk if he rlly counts
its funny because i explicitly tried to hide that i was a tranny from everyone after getting transferred there from the hospital and somehow they all ended up finding out and getting a lil too comfortable getting close to me lol
at least the cops that brought me there were respectful though, every involuntary psychiatric hold ive had placed on me the cops were always super nice and guarded me from sight when i was crying having a mental breakdown/looked away when i had to undress so ive sorta developed an appreciation for them
dont tell twitter i said that tho

one of the nurses was a girl i went to school with and she didn't show any sign of recognising me the whole time. met a guy who introduced himself to me every time i saw him because he'd forget everything within an hour. there was a girl in there who was coincidentally in there almost every other time i'd been in across 2 separate hospitals and we both just assumed the other one was in there all the time. this one guy was always screaming into the phone every opportunity he got and people said there was no one on the other end. random old lady i'd never talked to before pointed him out and told me 'see that guy? he thinks he's superman' completely unsolicited but no one else corroborated that so i think she was making it up. a lot of people were just coming off drugs. one of them got kind of offended when he told me he was coming off heroin and i said that was 'retro'. most surreal experience was a 45-50 year old woman who sounded exactly like a 13 year old girl. like, you could have closed your eyes and thought there was a child in front of you. honestly the psych ward is kinda fun and the people in there are a lot more interesting than outside. i'd stay in there all the time except that they make you take meds

Was inpatient a number of times when I was younger. The longest time in was over three months. Experienced and witnessed a ton of patient abuse, put on meds against my will.

For a long time in my life I had to frequently remind myself that I was out now and didn't have to go back. My mom and the partner who used to beat me would use it as a threat all the time.

At this point I'm not worried about going back. My life has improved and moved on.

glad you're doing better

The first time I went was weird. I was convinced Sam Hyde had access to the security camera feed and was broadcasting it to make fun of me so I did my best to maintain my composure so they couldn't milk lols from me. Also when I went to get my meds from the med room they asked me for my name so I gave them my name which wasn't my legal name yet but should have been in their files as my preferred name but they asked me what my name was "before coming here" so I gave them my deadname and they gave me my meds. I think everyone but me was using an alias. One guy was literally called Will Smith. But he was a white alcoholic. My second trip was in a different hospital and it was better because I was in there for what turned out to be psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES for short) and I had a bit of a breakdown because I didn't know how to cope with it so I went on the roof and paced around thinking about jumping off. But yeah. This hospital actually gave us outside time, which was good because the first one got really unbearable. They didn't give us access to the kitchen so we were limited to the snacks they brought out. If we asked we could get ginger ale which was nice. The food was better in the first one. They let me pick food from the kids menu because I have ARFID. In the second one I just read most of the time. I had my parents bring me House of Leaves and Dune. I could've watched TV but other people were watching their shows so I didn't. The worst part of each experience was going through CPEP. I've been through CPEP 3 times, and each time was awful. Everyone's in one big room and you don't get anything to do and the mattresses are on the floor. I have nightmares about it.
