Favorite gay kino?
I watched the first half of James Franco's director's cut of the movie. So there's a lot to unpack here. Basically, long story short, Gus Van Sant ruined his own movie by casting Keanu Reeves instead of actual hustlers who had auditioned and been promised jobs. One was a local gay guy from Portland, one was from Philly and had a minor career in music videos but got into heroin and paid for it by hustling, I think he's in the finished cut but only in one tiny scene and he should have had the role Keanu has, the scenes with Keanu (who is droned out on heroin in every scene of course), are the worst part of the film. Now mind you, ALL the actors were shooting heroin upstairs in Gus Van Sant's fancy new home, while he pretended not to notice but Keanu was hired for being conventionally famous and "muh diversity" and ruined the movie by being 100% unbelievable as a gay hustler and not being able to act. This guy was a WAY better actor but he wasn't as commercially known as Keanu so he lost the role:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_HarveyHe ended up getting deeper into drugs and dying less than 10 years later. River Phoenix was shitty too (and also died of a drug overdose not long after), but he wasn't AS BAD as Keanu, and they ruined the movie by picking hot straight guys vs actual irl gay hustlers. Gus Van Sant got a commercial normie film career out of it, for sure, but he did a dirty to gay actors.

I don't remember what the short is called, I believe it is an early short by French director Francois Ozon, but it could be by someone else. The basic gist is gay teen murders his parents then jerks off. It spoke to me. There was a video store near where I grew up that I believe was owned by a gay man that had lots of fun gay content.
