Why are male yuri fans so fruity across the world?

The closest thing to a gendered sexuality survey in Japan, from 2019, eight years after this survey.

Well at least this puts the lie to the claim that yuri fans are just straight men. Plenty of gay women enjoy yuri and the best yuri is not even sexual in nature.

Non-straight men are also clearly overrepresented, too.

Because if its not just downright porn then its fluff, and you tell me what straight man is going to read 800 pages of a highschool girl who dreams of being a superstar idol and crushes on the girl across her class?

Because somehow, God made it so that you can be a lesbian and male at the same time

Personally I think these are basically all people who actually have a female gender identity, but they're repressed

Lord knows I was one of them

They like the pretty images?

straight men are literally the largest demographic of yuri readers what are you talking about

Because straight men would just watch normal lesbian porn

There is a certain kind of straight man who finds the cultural expectations around "how to be a straight man" uncomfortable in some way.
Some of them, it's because they like the female role instead. They troon out.
But there's another set of them that aren't actually wanting the female role, they just want a "different" expression of "how to be a straight man" instead. Like they find the expectation that that they have be "assertive" revolting. Or they find the expectation that they have to be "less emotional" revolting. Or they just hate the aesthetics of modern masculinity. That set starts looking around elsewhere in culture to find a social role instead, that's more congruent to their nature. For example, the "trad husband" type that finds historical male social roles more congruent than modern ones.
I see the straight male yuri fans as an off-shoot of that. They want relationships with women, but they find the relationship patterns depicted in yuri as more congruent with what they want (e.g. emotional intimacy ahead of sexual intimacy).
But I find this kind of straight male yuri fan insufferable, because their interest in the fluffy, sweet, "girl's love" yuri is inherently fueled by a rejection of the sexuality they dislike. This turns them into MASSIVE FUCKING HATERS for any kind of yuri that steers into aspects of sexuality they hate. I think cheating/NTR yuri is the classic litmus test for this. You don't have to "like" cheating or NTR, but if you're mortally wounded by the concept of a woman cheating their comp-het husband with a manic-pixie dream girl, and go on to morally crusade against this classic archetype of lesbian literature, you are the one who is "problematic".

Not them.
Reading comprehension award. They didn't say there are no straight male yuri fans, they just said that the yuri fandom isn't JUST straight men.
Factually speaking, straight men are actually underrepresented when compared to their share of the general population.
This is pretty consistent across all regions and time.
