>be me, mtf repper
>work in a female-majority industry
>because there's only like 5 of us guys at my workplace, we kinda formed an informal club
>eat together during lunch hour and hang out after work to blow off steam
>one day one of our hitherto female coworkers starts dressing in men's clothes, wearing a binder, and wearing a nametag with a male name on it
>everyone just acts like nothing changed, keeps deadnaming and she/hering him
>he tries to correct people and they say "sorry" but then go back to doing it the next time they refer to him
>feel secondhand pain from watching the dead look in his eyes as he gets misgendered over and over again
>I want him to make it. I want him to have what I never can.
>talk to my friend group and tell them I want to invite coworker to hang out with us since he's a guy now.
>they seem a bit surprised but they're willing to humor me because we've been friends for years.
>next day, ask him if he wants to have lunch with us
>he seems surprised but goes along with it
>at first he just stays quiet while everyone else talks, but as he grows more comfortable he starts to make contributions to the conversation
>after a month he's basically treated as a regular
>over the next year he gets a bunch of changes on T and starts passing to customers
>at this point he's basically just one of the guys
>one day, he takes me aside
>tells me he appreciates me inviting him to the friend group
>says that I'm his role model as a man
>suddenly overcome by a wave of repressed gender dysphoria
>excuse myself
>go to the bathroom
>bawl my eyes out for half an hour about how I will never be a woman and I'll never be able to make it like he did

you did good anon. you're very noble and regardless of whatever sexual or gender orientation you identify with. camaraderie like this is few and far between these days and the world is a better place because of good people like you.
