Nonas, what's the shelf life of a single enanthate vial?
Provided that the vial doesn't get penetrated once and is kept in a dark place at 20 degrees celsius. The preservatives are MCT oil and benzyl alcohol.

I've bought 5 of these at once hoping they'd last me like 7 years, however I've read that after some time the aforementioned preservatives break down and I'm left with free radicals floating around.

completely depends on the manufacturing process, and basically all homebrewers as far as I can tell, do not know how to assess this accurately, and/or have wildly variable production processes that make it inaccurate to apply to all of their vials. assuming it's sterilized, nothing will start growing in it for decades, but once it gets penetrated, the carrier oil may have auto-oxidized or something. I'm not really sure what the timescale on that process even looks like though, and it depends on the carrier oil

i know. my first one from them had that very issue. they sent one like two weeks after i e-mailed them but i dunno if this new one is part of the same batch or not. all i know for sure is that its crimped properly this time and that it has these floaty bits (pictured is the very largest one) that the improperly crimped one doesn't have.

here's a video of the thing in question. Its this very thin chip almost. and then there are these little ones too. The first vial has a small amount of these floaters on the very bottom of the vial but they are not floating around and the solution itself is clear. i'll try warming it up over a longer period of time tomorrow and see if it does anything but so far i am pretty bummed out.

I have a couple EEn vials from OGL frozen as a backup - They are unopened, still in their little 3d printed cases (100% protected from light), which I placed in an airtight jar with O2 scavenger sachets, which is waay in back of my freezer. If/when I need to thaw them, I'm planning to put them in the fridge for 24h, and gently shake/swish occasionally to break up any crystals, then continue outside the fridge to slowly bring back to room temp. Any cloudiness/discoloration and I toss them.

Is this a completely stupid idea? Anything else I should do?

1 is why I'm doing the slow thaw+swish, so that the E can fully dissolve back into the carrier oil and 2 is, I think, really more of an issue with repeated freezings and thawings and/or if the stopper has already been punctured from use. I'm only doing one freeze/thaw cycle so hopefully not an issue.

please do and post your findings. they say the carrier oil starts becomes rancid after two years but how does that even happen in freeze? what does "starts" mean and at what rate does it degrade? 1% a year? what are the degrade products? are they irritants? ok to inject? it should be because of oxygen in air breaking down carbon chains but that happens so slow at low temps.

is it a safety margin or for insurance purposes? to cause more buying? tons of stuff stays 99% good for decades and decades. these are all relevant questions
